Sammael (Hellboy)

Sammael is a film character who features in Hellboy.

Biography

Sammael was known as the Desolate One and was noted to have been theSon of Nergal. His other titles included Lord of the Shadows, Hound of Resurrection, Harbinger of Pestilence and the Seed of Destruction. He was a two legged amphibious looking demon that on occassion used its forearms as legs. Its mouth contained a long tongue that was capable of shooting out and grabbing onto enemies and had a burning effect on its enemies as its an organic acid. He was capable of healing his injuries and returning from the dead making him a difficult foe to face. When he dislocated hi bones, he was easily capable of rearranging them back into place.

He seemed quite feral in its behaviour showing an incapability of speaking. His strength matched that of Hellboy and was quite capable of breaking through steel walls. He was also known for climbing of the cieling and eating prey up there. It was capable of throwing a parasite from its mouth which attached to a host and laid eggs. The eggs were sensitive to heat and light. They need a humit dark environment in order to breed.

He was trapped at some unknown point in the past and trapped in a salt container which was placed within a statue by the Vatican hat served as his prison. He remained in there until he was freed by Grigori Rasputin who promised the Hellhound that for everytime he was killed; two would rise to take his place. This made him come into conflict with Hellboy.
