The Sands of Time is a substance that features in Prince of Persia.

History

The Sands of Time were a terrible primordial substance that controlled the fabric of time itself. Long ago, the physical manifestation of the Sands was created by the gods who formed Kaileena who was the Empress of Time. She was an unwitting by-product of the creation of the timeline where she came to reside on the Island of Time as she held within her part of the timeline making her an incredibly powerful being. Whilst there, she enslaved the inhabitants there who were forced to build the Fortress of Time.

The Maharajah was noted to had journeyed to the Island of Time many years ago where he found the Artifacts of Time.

Overview

They were described as a being a primordial substance that changed and corrupted any living being exposed to it.

Only artifacts such as the Dagger of Time had the power to harness the Sands and bend the fabric of time itself. Among these included:

Films

  • In Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the Sands of Time appeared in the setting of the 2010 American live-action fantasy film. They were said to had been unleashed by the gods as a great sandstorm to destroy humanity but were moved when a young girl sacrificed herself in mankind's place leading to the Sands of Time being trapped in a large sandglass. Since that time, a dagger was given down a line of guardians that were gifted by the gods which had the power to pierce the sandglass to destroy the world. The dagger also gained the power to travel back in time but only for a single minute due to the sands present within it.
