History

Scars were an insectoid-based life forms that inhabited the world of Coda. It was noted that they first appeared from a Cataclysm in 413 L.V. where Freelancers battled the large vicious creature. Afterwards, the Scars began to regroup and started to mimic the form of human beings.

At the Battle for the Terraces, the Scars began a coordinated attack on farmers leading to the first encounter with the Escari following the burning of the fields below Fort Tarsis.

Overview

In appearance, the Scars were a colonial swarm of insects that were able to mimic the form of the dominant life in a region.

Once a swarm reached critical mass through consumption, they began to spawn an Escari that was an advanced Scar able to speak and form intelligent thought. Thus, they became a sentient manifestation of the Scar swarm and guided their operations. Unlike regular Scars, Escari were individuals that had unique ambitions and thoughts that became the source of power struggles within their swarms. Such disputes could see Escari being eager to augment and improve themselves.
