Scorpio (Jake Fury)

Jacob Fury was the younger brother of Nick Fury where he grew up in Depression-era New York City with his brother and younger sister Dawn. Fury's mother died while he was very young and his father Jack Fury, an American pilot who joined the British war effort during World War I, remarried. The children were raised by their stepmother after Jack Fury's own early death. Living in the tough streets of Hell's Kitchen, Fury and his brother were no strangers to trouble. He was among the greatest intelligence operatives on Earth that were brought together into the Great Wheel of the Zodiac by Leonardo da Vinci where Jake was assigned the mantle of Scorpio. (Secret Warriors v1 #25) Each mission involved acquiring advanced technology from around the world. Jake executed a mission with his brother and Thomas Davidson to Chapel at Chateau D'Amboise in France, where they found the technology that would later be reverse-engineered into Life-Model Decoys. Jake unwisely got too close and activated it. The technology latched onto him and Davidson, creating Life-Model Decoys of them both. Nick decided to keep this a secret. (Secret Warriors v1 #26)

Scorpio (Mikel Fury)

Mikel Fury was the son of Nick Fury and Amber D’Alexis who was a wealthy entrepreneur who managed a casino whilst being involved in criminal activities. Nick Fury briefly met her whilst on assignment to observe her in Macao where afterwards she became involved with Jake Fury. In this time, Nick and Amber had a brief affair though he ultimately had her arrested when he discovered evidence of her criminal wrongdoings. She came to be deported but Jake Fury loved her and instead blamed his brother Nick for ruining their relationship thus causing him to fall on the path to become Scorpio. Unknown to anyone, Amber was pregnant with Nick Fury's son but she passed the child off as being Jake Fury's offspring instead. The young Mikel was then trained by his mother to be an assassin and an instrument for revenge against his biological father where he took came to take the Scorpio identity. Scorpio (Vernon Fury)

Vernon Jacob Fury was the grandson of Jake Fury where he was raised on stories about his grandfathers schemes and plots regarding the Zodiac Key along with the legends pertaining to it. This led to him looking to unlock the power for himself and by adulthood he took on the mantle of the Scorpio whilst assembling a new version of the Zodiac. (Amazing Spider-Man v4 #11) Vernon would also eventually acquire the Zodiac Key for himself. When he reached adulthood, Vernon became a businessman, hiding his heritage behind the alias of Vernon Jacobs. When the small company Parker Industries skyrocketed, he became its biggest investor and share-holder. Using resources and money from the company, Jacobs founded the Zodiac, a terrorist organization with sights set on world domination. (Amazing Spider-Man v4 #10)

  • The concept of Scorpio was created by Jim Steranko where it made its first appearance in Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D v1 #1 (June, 1968).

  • In The Avengers: United They Stand, Scorpio appeared in the setting of the animated television series where he was voiced by actor Wayne Bes.
  • In Ultimate Spider-Man, Scorpio appeared in the setting of the animated television series where he was voiced by actor Phil Morris. This version was African-American where he was Max Fury who was the younger brother of Nick Fury.
