Spore is a male comic supervillain who features in Marvel Comics.

Biography

Spore was an ancient being born long ago at the hands of the highly advanced Deviant civilization that one ruled the Earth. In that time, they warred against their enemies the Eternals and sought to create a weapon to use against their immortal foes. Thus, they turned their science to genetics where they twisted the form of a human template and created a living disease that became known as Spore. He was created to be the ultimate weapon that could consume others, absorb their intelligence and grow as a result where his hunger grew to consume all life. After consuming several Eternals, their immortal genes were added into his biology but Spore desired more and he even turned against his own creators. Around this time, Earth was visited by the Celestials who had created both the Deviants and the Eternals where they had come to examine their experiments. Among their displeasures was Spore and the visited their judgement on him in an effort to destroy the rogue bio-weapon and they seemingly purged the creature. However, an aspect of it survived due to the immortal genes he had acquired and waited across the eons to awaken once more. (Wolverine v2 #21)

Spore was a living ultimate weapon created by the advanced genetic science of the Deviants who bred a living disease from a human template. The creatures power was the capacity to absorb organic life into himself where he gained access to their genetic material including their memories and also grew his bio-mass as a result.   • Spore was created by Archie Goodwin and John Byrne where he made his first appearance in Wolverine v2 #21 (February, 1990).
