Biography
Sunset Bain was a female human born in the modern age where she was raised in San Diego, California. She had a genius intellect and became an expert in advanced technology. (Iron Man v3 #19)
When she was a child, she was noted to had met Dr. Abel Stack where she was impressed by his work and ignited her own interest in science. (Marvel Comics Presents v2 #12)
Ten years ago, Bain was in Regatta where she met Tony Stark when he was in his last year at M.I.T. The two embarked on a romantic relationship despite her being an older woman where the young Stark loved to show off his family's business to her unaware that this was through her own manipulations. This allowed her to gain a weakness to Stark Industries where she employed masked men to break in and steal half a dozen prototypes. These designs were then used by her to launch her own company which eventually became Baintronics. After getting everything she wanted, Sunset was noted to had broken up with Stark and left him. Sunset next showed up in a meeting with Tony Stark which was interrupted when a damaged Machine Man showed up with the head of Jocasta, having lost a battle to Terminus. Stark changed into Iron Man and brought the damaged androids to Baintronics, where under the guise of assistance, Sunset created knockoff duplicates of the robots. When the repaired Machine Man left, Sunset managed to give him the fake Jocasta. (Iron Man Annual v1 #11)
Afterwards, the Baintronics fell on tough times with both Parnell Jacobs and Sunset both trying to use Stuart Clarke to get the other's half of the War Machine Armor as Jacobs had the body and she had the head. She seduced Clarke into shooting Jacobs, but when she found the location of the rest of the armor she knocked Clarke out. In retaliation, Clarke put the Punisher on Sunset's trail, and he shot her. Arno then put her body into stasis where he developed a clone of her and an artificial replica of her personality that was placed in a new body. Believing herself to be the real Sunset Bain, she managed Baintronics though Arno Stark believed her to be just another artificial intelligence and one that followed his directives. (Iron Man 2020 v1 #4)
