History
The Tactigon
As Armory, Lightner attempted to operate as a superhero where she aided the Mighty Avengers by taking down Ultimo. This saw her being selected for training at Camp Hammond to join the 50-State Initiative. During this time, the Tactigon was studied by a team of scientists including Baron Von Blitzschlag where they did not know the true limits of the weapons abilities. Armory participated in an exercise in the training simulator where she easily defeated her foes. It was then that Terrence Ward was asked to test his powers where he manifested as Violet Lightner's fear of spiders which caused her to lash out with the Tactigon. In the moment, she shot out several energy beams that damaged Camp Hammond and inadvertently killed Michael Van Patrick. This resulted in Violet being kicked out of the Initiative as she had failed training and the Tactigon was stripped from her with the entire disaster being classified by Henry Peter Gyrich in order to keep the incident a secret. On an unknown alien world, the Chitauri began to invade that planet leading to the world's emperor taking the Tactigon that was in his possession to fight off the invaders. Due to the number of enemies, he decided to use the weapon to generate a black hole above his world in order to fight his foes. Thor and Hulk were brought to this planet with the goal of recovering the Tactigon. (Thor vs. Hulk: Champions of the Universe v1 #5)

It was described as a being an Omega-level weapon that was one of the most powerful weapons in the galaxy that automatically detected the weakness of an enemy and transformed into a weapon that would destroy the target. The super-assassin bounty hunter Wraith found the weapon which he kept in his hidden lair but after he was arrested then the Guardians of the Galaxy broke into the site where they recovered the Tactigon. This triggered a self-destruct that would have destroyed half the galaxy with the Guardians looking to sneak it into the Nova Corps temporal stasis vault on Xandar.
