Dark Sector
The Technocyte Virus was a bioweapon created at the Vosro Research Facility in the Eastern European city of Lasria during the Cold War. It was created in secret and released where it infected numorous members of the Human populace who were driven mad by the pain caused by the virus which transformed them into biomechanical creatures. These beings were known as the Infected and were bloodthirsty to the point that they attacked anyone in their state of madness.
The Agency became aware of the Technocyte Virus and dispatched agent Hayden Tenno to deal with the matter. Who too was infected, however, instead of transforming him into a monster - the virus granted him numerous inhuman abilities.
Warframe
In the far future, the virus was shown to continue to exist following the Old War and collapse of the Orikin civilisation. Those humans corrupted by the virus became the Infected who were hostile to the factions into the Origin System.
Overview
Those infected with the virus were noted for a higher metabolism and gaining a metallic crusty skin.
Infected were allergic to Enferon and inhalation caused disorientation and eventually death.
