History

The Telkines (Ancient Greek: Τελχῖνες) were a race of beings that once inhabited the mortal world. The Titans once ruled the primordial darkness before the light of the Olympian Gods appeared. the Titans, including the Telkines, once ruled the primordial darkness before they were defeated in a great war and subsequently exiled and imprisoned by the Olympian Gods, who then ushered in a golden age for the mortal world. The Telkines, however, escaped this imprisonment or were lesser enough to avoid the worst of the sealing, eventually becoming powerful enemy sorcerers with grey skin and glowing eyes who wandered the mortal realm.

An unknown time later, a trio of lesser Titans known as Telkines broke the conduit linking Olympus with the mortal world, and summoned armies of monsters to prepare for the release of the Titans. The player character begins their quest at the village of Helos, where beasts are destroying the local crops. Fighting their way through Greece, they learn of Telkines from a group called the Order of Prometheus. After defeating the first Telkine beneath the palace of Knossos, the heroes travelled to Egypt and attempted to restore the connection between Earth and Olympus. The ritual failed, and they must defeat a second Telkine. The heroes then pursued the final Telkine along the Silk Road to China. Pursuing the Telkine to the Wusou Mountains, the heroes were too late to prevent the release of the Titan Typhon, who travelled to Olympus to destroy the gods.

Overview

In appearance, the Telkines were a race of lesser Titans who were great sorcerers with grey skin, glowing eyes and the capacity for the great evil. They were free in the mortal world and worked to bring the planet to darkness. They were tall figures whose bodies were covered in a tough, grey-colored hide or skin, a feature that immediately set them apart from the mortal humans they terrorized. Their heads were striking, often featuring prominent, bone-like facial structures. Perhaps their most unnerving visual characteristic was their eyes, which were completely devoid of pupils or irises and instead glowed with an intense, magical light, hinting at the immense arcane power they wielded. They often dressed in ornate, ancient-looking robes that complemented their roles as powerful magicians, and wielded staffs as conduits for their sorcery.

These ancient beings were masters of the sorcerous arts and possessed immense knowledge of magic. They were present during the primordial era when the Titans ruled, before the Olympians rose to power. Following the great war between the Titans and the Gods, the Telkines managed to escape the fate of most of their kin, who were defeated, exiled, and imprisoned. While the Olympians established a golden age for the mortal world, the Telkines survived, continuing to roam the earth and maintaining their unwavering loyalty to the imprisoned Titans, particularly the formidable Typhon. They became powerful, malevolent sorcerers known for their grey skin and glowing eyes. Their existence in the world was marked by their commitment to a singular goal: engineering the return of their fellow Titans to reestablish their ancient dominion over the cosmos, an objective they pursued covertly until the moment they began their grand scheme to break the celestial conduit between Olympus and the mortal realm.

In the Greek era, they were responsible for destroying the communication conduit between the ancient priests as well as oracles and the gods themselves. One of their number also attempted to free the Titan Typhon though their plan in destroying the Gods failed.
