Time Master Council in Legends of Tomorrow.
  • In Legends of Tomorrow, the Time Masters were introduced as part of the Arrowverse setting where they were re-imagined as an organization of time travelers. They were led by the Time Masters Council that sought the preservation of history and had no standing army. The Time Masters were based at the Vanishing Point and maintained a Refuge as a secret location in history to hide their young recruits. Their recruits were drawn from orphans across history that were inducted into their ranks and given new names after being adopted by Mother who cared for them. One of their rules for their trainees was that they were not allowed to engage in romantic relationships with one another or have families as they believed this to be an interfering influence on their actions. Whilst not having an army, the Time Masters made use of bounty hunters to capture individuals that disrupted the timeline. If capture was not possible, they deployed the Hunters that were armed and sent to eliminate their targets. The ultimate sanction was the Omega Protocol where they sent an elite agent known as the Pilgrim to find the younger selves of the targets and eliminate them thus erasing their future counterparts. Such attempts were done so only once as this meant a minimum of interference in the timeline. The Time Masters had fine control over time manipulation allowing them to camouflage their operatives in the timeline or conduct micro-manipulation in the local area. Agents of the Time Masters made use of timeships that were equipped with sophisticated artificial intelligences that could monitor the timeline. Captain Rip Hunter was a noted Time Master who attempted to enlist his comrades in stopping the immortal Vandal Savage who had conquered the world by the mid-22nd century. The Time Masters refused to act leading to Captain Hunter stealing the time-ship Waverider and recruiting heroes to stop Savage. In response, the Time Masters sent a time traveling bounty hunter named Chronos after him. In "White Knight", a Time Master named Druce was shown to be an old friend to Rip Hunter who tried to trick him into being captured by Chronos. In "River of Time", it was revealed that the Time Council were in league with Vandal Savage and freed him after his capture by Rip Hunter. The episode "Destiny" revealed that Time Masters could see the upcoming threat from the Thanagarians that conquered the Earth in 2171 which was why they sided with Vandal Savage to unite the world against the people of Thanagar.
