Biography

Firestorm fights Hewitt in Firestorm Annual v2 #1.

Henry Hewitt was CEO of the Hewitt Corporation, as well as a high level director in the 2000 Committee, a vast criminal conspiracy which planned to implement a corporate takeover of the world by the year 2000. Hewitt had an operative of the 2000 Committee named Multiplex kidnap Lorraine Reilly, the daughter of Senator Walter Reilly, in an attempt to recreate the accident that created Firestorm. Due to Hewitt's experiments Reilly's metagene was activated and she was transformed into the being known as Firehawk. Hewitt, a quadriplegic invalid, wished to use the data he'd gathered to repair his damaged body and eventually used it to transform himself into the villain known as "Tokamak, the Living Reactor".

As told in Firestorm vol. 3 #28-31 (October 2006-January 2007), in order to survive his terminal disease, Hewitt created a clone of himself. After merging with it to take on the appearance of an Asian man, he took on the alias of Victor Hewitt, claiming to be the half-Vietnamese son of Henry Hewitt in order to inherit his own company. He tried to cause nuclear meltdowns all over the world in a plot to gather nuclear energy to empower himself, but he was stopped by Firestorm, Firehawk, and Pozhar. Firestorm separated Hewitt from his clone, thus killing Hewitt.

Overview

Personality and attributes

After gaining powers, he decided to go by the name of Tokamak the Human Reactor with its origin traced to the word 'Tokamak' which was the Russian name for a fusion plasma reactor. (Firestorm v2 #18)

Due to his illness, the pleasures of the flesh were said to be denied him leading to power being the only thing left for him to enjoy. (Firestorm v2 #15)

It was said that his eccentricities had made him a modern day Howard Hughes. (Firestorm v2 #18)

Powers and abilities

Hewitt was shown as being a quadriplegic invalid who was unable to move on his own. Due to his limited mobility, he linked all his controls to his couch allowing him to control every machine in his complex. (Firestorm v2 #15)

Tokamak was a "living nuclear reactor", and apparently an unstable one. He originally wore an armored containment suit that allowed him limited short range flight. In his earlier appearances the containment armor he wore was the only thing preventing his body from catastrophic detonation. He demonstrated the ability to alter the atomic structure of any inorganic matter trapped within the energy rings he is capable of projecting. He can use his rings to compress matter or break down its structural integrity.

By focusing the energy he contained, he was capable of generating plasma energy rings that were magnetic fields similar to the ones used to control a fusion reactor. Anything trapped within their field had their atomic structure altered or compressed to nothingness. (Firestorm v2 #18)

He was noted for being the CEO and head of the Heweitt Corporation. (Firestorm v2 #15) It was shown that he had ties to the 2000 Committee and was involved in their criminal ventures. (Firestorm v2 #18)
