Trakeena

Trakeena is a female television villain who features in Power Rangers.

Biography

Trakeena was the daughter of the galactic tyrant Scorpius where she was an insectoid but was born with human features.

The princess learned about Furio's attempt to gain the Lights of Orion for Scorpius. When Furio knew who was chosen to get the Lights in a cavern, Trakeena helped Furio in achieving his goal. She had introduced herself to the Rangers. After Furio had destroyed himself while fighting Leo, Treacheron had became Scorpius's new general, which intrigued Trakeena. She wanted to go with Treacheron to battle the Rangers, and he allowed it. Leo, in his Ranger form, had nearly slashed Trakeena, but Treacheron had blocked it and teleported her back to the Scorpion Stinger for her own safety. He lied saying that Trakeena followed him, for he wanted to save his own neck. Trakeena had Impostra disguise herself as Treacheron to trick Destruxo in taking the lights for himself, as Trakeena tells Scorpius that Treacheron betrayed him. This convinced Scorpius and had Treacheron taken away, all part of Trakeena's plan for pay back. Trakeena was called by Treacheron and was told of a silver goblet and a map that led to it. Trakeena took the map and left with Stingwingers, which happened to be a doublecross. When she digged it up, Treacheron appeared, freed from his cell, and attacked her. Trakeena ran from him, thanks to the appearance of the Rangers, but later ran into Magna Defender. Magna Defender wanted revenge for what her father took from him: his son. When Magna Defender was about to slay the princess, he suddenly had chest pain which allowed Trakeena to escape, unharmed.

Trakeena wanted to be declared as the most beautiful girl in the universe, but was later told by Crumummy, who lived in her mirror, that the females on Terra Venture were more beautiful than her. Trakeena had sent Crumummy to the colony and steal their beauty, making her the only beautiful girl on the colony and in the universe. Trakeena went to see for herself as she took human form, as Tracy. She was drooled over by the men, at least all except for Mike Corbett, the new Magna Defender. Trakeena had put poison in his food, but had thrown it away, due to a monster attack. When Crumummy had stolen Kendrix and Maya's beauty, he ignored Trakeena, for he recognized her in her human form. Trakeena tried to poison him again, which seemed like it worked, having Crumummy to bring the beauty sand. It turned out that Mike faked his death and wasted the beauty sand, returning the females of Terra Venture's beauty. Trakeena had found out that Scorpius wanted to turn her into an insect with great powers like him, but she didn't want to, and she later ran away to the planet Onyx when he tried to force her.

Trakeena had started wandering in the desert parts of Onyx. She was later bullied by two rough humanoids at the Onyx Tavern, until Villamax came to her rescue. He had offered to train her to be a great warrior. Trakeena endured a long training session. She learn how to swordfight and martial arts. Trakeena had proved to be a great warrior and had returned to rough up the same humanoids that bullied her. Trakeena had returned to the Scorpion Stinger after hearing of Scorpius being injured. While Scorpius was dying, Trakeena was given his throne of power and all of his powers. Deviot told her that Scorpius was destroyed by the Red Galaxy Ranger. Trakeena had sent the Cocoon into the storage area in the Scorpion Stinger, until she needs it. Trakeena sent Villamax and Deviot to capture the Red Ranger for destroying her father. Once she had him in her dungeon, she opened a fiery hole to throw Trakeena in, and he managed to escape. Trakeena had decided to finish him of herself, but was interrupted by Kubak and Teksa. She later returned to the Scorpion Stinger and vowed to destroy them, allowing evil to rule.

She would continue to attack Terra Venture multiple times, and at one point had the Psycho Rangers restored only for them to be destroyed by the combined might of the Galaxy and Space Rangers. After Kendrix's sacrifice on destroying the Savage Sword used by Psycho Pink, Trakeena was able to expose Karone's identity immediately due to her full knowledge of the former Astronema's involvement on the Zordon Wave, but unable to steal the Pink Quasar Saber when Kendrix's spirit saved Karone and chose her as the second Pink Ranger. When Terra Venture was pulled into the Lost Galaxy by Deviot, Trakeena was unwilling to follow, fearful of being unable to escape. When the colony emerged some time later, Trakeena destroyed the ship of Captain Mutiny, who was pursuing it as a show of her power over the galaxy.

Overview

Personality and attributes

Initially, she was a very young woman bent on trying to prove herself to her father and rule by his side. She would tag along with Scorpius' generals and bully them just because she could. Trakeena is the Princess of Scorpius' army and as such, she is pampered and spoiled by her father, he doesn’t discipline her, and never raises his voice or punishes her. She throws around her father's name in order to threaten Scorpius' generals. She is also cunning and very manipulative. She was easily able to bend Furio to her will and convince her father that Treacheron, who is a very loyal general to Scorpius, is a traitor.

Trakeena was incredibly vain and proud. On one occasion, she had the monster Crumummy steal the beauty from all the female inhabitants of Terra Venture, because she hated the thought that they might be those more beautiful than herself. When faced with the possibility of losing her beauty to become as powerful as her father, Trakeena ran away.

Trakeena is power hungry, like her father. After becoming queen, she sits upon her throne trying to find new ways to destroy the Rangers in order to conquer and rule the universe. She quickly destroyed Captain Mutiny after he arrived in her galaxy to preserve her position as ruler of the universe.

Despite being vain, manipulative and power-hungry, Trakeena did have a good side. She had a good honour and she seemed to have a personality similar to Villamax’s, as she only wants to destroy the people who killed her father.

Powers and abilities

Trakeena survived her ship's devastating crash which ended up killing Kegler.

Trakeena was initially an embarrassingly bad fighter in hand-to-hand combat, but after being trained by Villamax, was even more skilled in battle than Leo or the more experienced Karone.

Trakeena was able to teleport to any location at will in a shimmer of green energy.

Trakeena was able to disguise herself as a girl named Tracy in an attempt to fool the Rangers.

Trakeena could summon a green insect-like armor to protect herself in battle. However, this was only used once as she rarely entered combat before Scorpius' death and didn't need it because of her skills by the time that he died.

• Trakeena was portrayed by actor Amy Miller and featured in the setting of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.
• In Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, due to Miller walking off due to disagreement over the script the character was portrayed by actor Jennifer Burns in the two-part crossover episode.
