Biography
Tsunayoshi Sawada (Japanese: 沢田 綱吉, Hepburn: Sawada Tsunayoshi) was the only child of Iemitsu Sawada and Nana Sawada. He grew up in Namimori and first met Timoteo as a child. For the next several years until he was in middle school, Tsuna lived an uneventful life where he greatly admired Kyoko Sasagawa, who was the first girl to ever speak to him.
One day, an infant hitman named Reborn comes to Japan from Italy in order to train Tsuna for the role of tenth Vongola Boss. Tsuna was chosen because he was the great-great-great grandson of the First Vongola Boss, who had moved to Japan a long time ago. When meeting up with his crush Kyoko, Reborn immediately noticed that Tsuna had feelings for her and asked if he ever confessed his love to her, where he reveals to have never confessed due to her being the most popular student in school and having the status as a loser. Reborn shoots Tsuna with a Dying Will Bullet, which sends him into Dying Will Mode, where he is forced to confess his love to Kyoko, who is scared away. When he arrives at school the next day he's teased by all of his classmates for confessing to Kyoko in his underwear, where he is challenged by Kensuke Mochida, who is disgusted by his behavior towards Kyoko and is challenged to a Kendo match. Tsuna decides to flee, rather retaining his status as a loser, but is stopped by Reborn who has been watching Tsuna to make sure he conducts himself as a true Mafia boss, he once again shoots Tsuna with a Dying Will Bullet, and Tsuna returns back to fight off against Mochida, Tsuna breaks Mochida's kendo, headbutts him, and tears out all of his hair, making him the winner of the match.
Tsunayoshi Sawada was an exceptionally clumsy and insecure Japanese middle school student who was heavily ridiculed by his peers and dubbed "No-Good Tsuna" due to his complete lack of athletic ability and failing grades. His ordinary life changed entirely when an infant named Reborn arrived at his household, claiming to be a top-class mafia hitman hired by Tsuna's mother to act as his home tutor. Reborn revealed that Tsuna was actually the great-great-great-grandson of the founder of the Vongola Famiglia, the most powerful mafia organization in Italy, and had been selected as the sole candidate to become the tenth-generation boss. To force Tsuna into a life-threatening situation, Reborn shot him in the head with a special artifact called the Dying Will Bullet. This supernatural ammunition killed Tsuna temporarily, only to instantly resurrect him when he felt a deep regret about not confessing his love to his classmate, Kyoko Sasagawa. Driven by this absolute determination, Tsuna broke through his physical limitations, ran through the streets in his underwear, and successfully confessed his feelings to Kyoko after aggressively defeating her popular suitor, Mochida, in a Kendo match.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Tsunayoshi Sawada was a teenage human male of Japanese descent who possessed a relatively short, slender, and completely unathletic build. He had large, expressive brown eyes that typically conveyed an expression of nervousness or fear, and his spiky brown hair flared out wildly in all directions. In his daily routine as a student at Namimori Middle School, he wore a standard uniform consisting of a white, long-sleeved collared shirt with a red necktie, dark blue trousers, and a matching dark blue blazer jacket. When struck by Reborn's Dying Will Bullet, his appearance altered drastically as he tore off his entire school uniform in a burst of energy, stripping down to a simple pair of white boxer shorts decorated with small blue heart patterns. Additionally, his physical features became highly intense as a large, bright orange flame ignited and burned steadily directly on his forehead, reflecting his altered mental state.
The only child of Iemitsu Sawada and Nana Sawada, he is also a descendant of Giotto, the first generation boss of the Vongola Famiglia.
Powers and abilities
Tsuna is clumsy and has subpar athletic skills. Tsuna has been observed sometimes tripping accidentally over nothing. His poor grades and wimpy attitude prompted his classmates and teachers to tease him whenever possible.
Sawada possessed a range of enhanced physical capabilities that were unlocked exclusively through the supernatural properties of the Dying Will Bullet. In his ordinary state, he exhibited no notable skills, demonstrating poor reflexes, weak physical strength, and a total lack of combat proficiency. However, upon being shot and entering the Dying Will Mode, his mental inhibitions were entirely removed, granting him immense physical strength that allowed him to shatter a wooden Kendo stick with his bare hands and rip out handfuls of human hair. He displayed superhuman speed and endurance, enabling him to sprint across town at extreme velocities while completely ignoring physical exhaustion or pain. Additionally, his altered state granted him absolute, unyielding focus and a lack of fear, allowing him to aggressively overpower trained opponents in close-quarters combat through sheer, single-minded momentum.
