History
The Tuunbaq was a monstrous creature that inhabited the area near King William's Island in formerly uncharted territory. According to one account, it was a demon that had been created millennia ago by the Esquimaux goddess Sedna to kill her fellow spirits, with whom she had become angry. This resulted in a war that lasted 10,000 years whereupon the other spirits were defeated by the Tuunbaq which then turned against its creator Sedna who then banished it to the Arctic wastes. Once there, the monster then preyed on the Esquimaux and massacred them by the thousands until their most powerful shamans discovered a way to communicate with the demon. The shamans called the sixam ieua sacrificed their tongues to the beast and promised to stay out of its domain thus ending the monsters rampage.
