Unit 11

Unit 11 were a research group that featured in the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Background

After World War I, several scientists were pulled into a secret think tank known as Unit 11 which was led by Dr. Totenkopf. The research made by the scientists was made in secret until the group disbanded. After this happened, the scientists who had worked on the project were abducted by the machines of Totenkopf in order to bring about the accumulation of the groups ultimate goal.

The purpose the research group were brought together was to aid in the development of an ark program where all life and technological secrets of the planet were placed within a rocket ship that would depart for a new planet in order to start life once again. However, as part of the plan, a eapon would be detonated in Earths atmosphere that would wipe the planet clean of life.
