History

Origin

The United Earth Federation (UEF) was a human government that was based around the planet Earth. It was formed after the collapse of the Earth Empire where it was was established in the year 3256 as a militaristic power that sought dominance over the other factions in the galaxy. It expanded its borders to the furthest reaches of the galaxy through a combination of innovation, ambition and desire. However, it eventually so large that it could no longer support itself leading to the empire fragmenting and falling into civil war. As the Earth Empire collapsed, chaos came to engulf the interstellar empire leading to the military headed by Earth Command (EarthCom) stepping forward to restore order. Gathering power for themselves, they initiated a strategy to reunite all worlds under Earth's banner. Thus, the United Earth Federation was formed and driven to restore Earth to its former glory and were conscious to avoid events that brought about the collapse of the Earth Empire.

Infinite War

The arrival of the alien Seraphim brought an end to the Infinite War with the hostile forces becoming a threat that spread across the galaxy. The species that were once thought to be extinct began butchering any human that they found in their path. In the face of this foe, the UEF leadership was forced to consider drastic measures and looked to allying with the Aeon Illuminate along with the Cybrans to fight the common foe.

New Conflicts

After the Seraphim's defeat, the UEF began to assert control over the Coalition where they were able to leverage the citizen's strong factional identity in order to represent a united front on all issues. The Colonial Defense Coalition remained into effect in the years after the Seraphim invasion and became the governing body of the known galaxy. One of its first acts was ending the Quantum Gate network which was a largely symbolic act and led to an end of the primary method of interstellar travel to distant star systems. This led to a restriction in the deployment of armies over vast distances and thus lowered the chances of another intergalactic war erupting between the UEF and the other two governments. However, this came at the cost of giving even greater isolation between the distant colonies but this was seen as an acceptable compromise. As a result of this act, each world contained its own governing body with the different factions remaining in name but maintained their own military forces as they were all now bound by a single set of ruling law.

Overview

In appearance, the United Earth Federation was a human government established from the collapse of the prior Earth Empire. It was formed from military survivors in Earth Command who looked to re-establish a military regime to unite mankind under their control.

A notable body within its military was its leadership that gathered as Earth Command (EarthCom).

The average UEF citizen sought stability and order with them having a strong sense of brotherhood as well as community. Their leaders tended to be aggressive and driven to bringing about galactic order. As part of the Coalition, the UE was a economic, political and economic machine that drove its operations.

Average citizens of the UEF ranged from being artisans, athletes, craftsman, warriors and philosophers. They generally desired stability and order though the views on how this was accomplished tended to vary widely. Each also had their own views on how the government should achieve its goals or whether the UEF should restore the Earth Empire that had failed long ago. Ancient religions were also varied and diverse as they were in the days before the war with them being a motivating factor for many within their society. Despite these varying traits, the single most common factor within the UEF shared by all its citizens was a sense of brotherhood and community. Colonists were note to had banded together during the periods of strife and this sense continued over the years. Positively contributing to society and personal improvements was seen as a way of life among citizens. It was for this reason that UEF communities tended to rarely contain vagabonds or homeless individuals.

They believed in military might and their prime virtue was order. They saw nothing wrong with utilizing technology including genetic engineering to help achieve their lauded goal. In fact, the vast majority of the UEF's citizenry were directly descended from cloned or genetically enhanced colonists. The UEF employed wide-scale genetic modification programs among their own populace designed to help 'facilitate' order and control with this being a holdover from the old Earth Empire's policy. The most visible sign of the UEF's tampering with nature can be seen with the use of Symbionts who were humans with cybernetic implants and twined with a sophisticated symbiotic AI. These Symbionts were integral to a colony's survival and performed a variety of roles. The Symbiont program operated on a volunteer-only basis with all UEF citizenry being eligible for the process. Thousands of applicants apply each year with them being eager to do their part to help the UEF and their local community. Unknown to anyone, the Symbionts were subject to a hidden loyalty program that was designed to still free will and ensure perfect loyalty to the UEF. This was the primary reason for the continued conflict between the Cybran Nation and the UEF. To Cybrans, the use of the loyalty programming to force these symbionts to perform mental tasks for the UEF was akin to slavery and fuelled the animosity between the two sides.

In comparison to other military forces, the UEF ended to field larger and more aggressive versions of 20th century hardware. Rigorous psychological testing was employed on UEF Commanders to ensure loyalty and that each believed in their duty in maintaining order in the galaxy.

The UEF military had a preference for weaponry that caused impact damage such as ballistic munitions and area of effect ordinance that caused widespread destruction such as nukes and radiation devices. In addition, they also made excellent use of lasers and plasma weapon technology to pinpoint sensitive areas on large military units. During their impending attacks, they were known to utilise brute-force jamming techniques before moving in for the kill. UEF military tactics were the most conventional with a focus on concentrated fire to bring down enemy units quickly and effectively. Furthermore, they had a penchant for strong defenses giving them precious time to marshal a response to any unexpected attack. Their tactics were primarily based around long range, heavy-hitting attacks, with speed and stealth often neglected in favor of artillery strikes and large, shielded forces.

Genetic engineering was a noted advancement by their civilisation and they were capable of cloning people. UEF soldiers and in particular their Commanders were subjected to heavy genetic engineering. Thorough psychological screening was used to ensure loyalty and sanity had become a requirement since a few Commanders went rogue during the Empire’s infancy. While this still could happen, the process helped ensure that each Commander believed unquestioningly in their duty to lead mankind out of the current chaos of war and into an Age of Peace.

The QGW R-32 was a type of Quantum Gateway that was used to transport forces between worlds.

Weaponry developed by the UEF included:

  • Tom Cat Machinegun :
  • Gauss Cannon :
  • Hells Fury Riot-Gun :
  • Light Plasma Cannon :
  • Heavy Plasma Cannon :
  • Gatling Plasma Cannon :
  • Anti Matter Artillery :

The chief asset in the field was the Armored Command Unit (ACU) that was based on technology developed by the Earth Empire. These were a personal armored exoskeleton that was several times the size of a human being with them being operated by a single yet highly-trained and motivated pilot. State of the art communication and data analysis systems were used in coordination of large military forces and to help the pilot manage a growing base of operations. A powerful virtual reality interface linked the pilot to their subordinate units and enabled to assess their needs on the battlefield as well as direct their forces. An on-board Quantum Communication system was utilised to keep the pilot in constant contact with a command structure though they themselves were in sole command of forces in the field. It also allowed them to organise and plan the construction of multiple bases of operations. To accomplish this, the ACU was able to construct and control an entire robotic army as Quantum Tunnels were unable to transport such large forces. Thus, stored digital template patterns of basic military base structures were located within the banks of synthetic DNA memory storage that works in conjunction with a Proto-Crafter. Power was supplied from an on-board fusion reactor and an initial store of Mass that allowed the ACU to build Basic Energy and Mass resource collectors from the immediate environment. With adequate resources, an ACU could produce basic units indefinitely with some of these using the same principles to create more complex units. It was see as a practical solution to logistical costs and the prohibitive mass costs of teleporting large armies across the galaxy. An ACU used cutting-edge military science and the latest breakthroughs in nanotechnology to maximise combat potential with it being recognised as a powerful yet flexible weapon. The low-mass nature of the large machine meant that it was easy to transport through the Quantum Network.

Known vehicles used by the UEF included:

  • Tech 1 Light Assault Bots : lightly armored mechs that provided direct-fire support against low-end units.
  • UEF Experimental Mobile Factory : Among its noted experimental units was the UEF Experimental Mobile Factory that was nicknamed the Fatboy.
  • UEF Experimental Aircraft Carrier : Among its noted experimental units was the UEF Experimental Aircraft Carrier that was nicknamed the Atlantis.
