History

Ursa were creatures developed by an alien race that were bred for warfare against mankind. At this point, the United Ranger Corps had relocated humanity to the world of Nova Prime. Following this expedition, mankind made contact with alien life that proved to be hostile with the Ursa being deployed to hunt down humans. The beasts proved to be deadly due to their capacity to sense fear in their prey despite being blind. This fact was discovered by the Ranger Cypher Raige who developed the technique of ghosting that made him appear invisible to the Ursa that were slain in battle. Despite this advantage, among the many people killed was his elder daughter Senshi who managed to protect her younger brother Kitai Raige from an Ursa. With the aliens defeated, surviving Ursa were kept alive in containment where they were used in Ranger camps for training in the ghosting technique.

Overview

In appearance, an Ursa resembled a six limbed alien creature that had no eyes on its head but a mouth filled with sharp teeth. These beasts lacked any visual senses such as eyes but instead detected pheromones signatures of prey. Such pheromones were typically released when prey were in a state of fear that allowed the Ursa to hunt them. As a result, only those that were able to suppress the sense of fear were capable of being completely invisible to their senses. Otherwise, these alien beasts were fearsome predators that were able to swiftly dispatch other animals with ease. This was achieved through the sharp claws on its limbs which were able to slice through uniforms. Another natural ability was the capacity to shoot out a black venomous compound to wound their prey.
