History

Valhalla was an ancient planet that resided in the centre of the universe where its existence was tied to the origins of the universe itself. Millions of years old, it was more ancient than the stars themselves and brought about the rise of powerful god-like beings. The ruler of the people of Valhalla was King Wotan. At some point, they entrusted the safety of the Rhein Gold to three priestesses who safeguarded it on the planet Rhein. Wotan was noted to had an eternal enimity of a rival clan of immortal beings known as the Nibelung due to that clan attempting to conquer Valhalla. The extent of this conflict was such that the Nibelung were repressed by Valhalla leading to their banishment with Miime and her brother Alberich being hunted by Wotan. At some point in the distant past, the siblings were noted to had stolen the planetoid sized vessel of Wotan where they hid it within another dark planet. The pursuit of the Nibelung spanned 650 million years though Valhalla was never successful in capturing their enemies. During their escape, the Nibelung were noted to had encountered humanity and brought mankind up under their teachings. As a result, humans were noted to hold the qualities of all the clans and thus had the power to endanger the gods of Valhalla.

At some point, Valhalla entered into its year old sleep where Alberich of the Nibelung used this opportunity to find the Rhein Gold. He attacked a human asteroid colony in order to find the instructions to the planet Rhein. Once there, he stole the gold thus threatening the fabric of the universe and leading to Rhein's destruction. This chain of events led to Wotan awakening and the music used to maintain the gods youth being disrupted. Whilst Alberich forged a ring from the Rhein Gold, Wotan prepared the defenses of Valhalla to stand up against the Nibelung. When the Arcadia discovered Wotan's stolen starship, the ruler of the gods remotely detonated it to prevent it from being used any further. He ordered the Meister brothers to create a powerful fortress to defend them and made plans to destroy humanity first. To stop Alberich, he had Miime aboard the Arcadia brought before Valhalla in order to interrogate her but Elda warned the danger posed by humanity to the gods.

Overview

Time operated differently on the this world as a hundred Earth years were just a single second on Valhalla. The eternal youth of the gods was maintained by organs that controlled time itself and reverberated throughout the universe. If they songs played were stopped, then age began to affect the gods of Valhalla. The planets existence was paramount to the continued survival of the universe as it was claimed the destruction of Valhalla would bring about a reverse of the Big Bang thus destroying the entire cosmos.
