History

Vampires were an ancient race of beings that lived on the planet Earth where they came into constant conflict with mankind. According to their followers, they were once gods that ruled the lands and were as evolution as well as nature intended. This brought them into numerous battles with humans who were typically butchered by their vampire foes despite various states of technological advancement. The conflict led to both sides destroying one another and the land. The only advantage available to humans was the sun that killed the vampires when exposed to it though this only delayed their predations on humans. Eventually, mankind was forced to withdrawn behind the safety of the Church and within great walled cities. In addition, a specific order of warriors were trained in the arts of vampire combat and were known as Priests that were sent out to battle the creatures. Their extraordinary skilled fighting capabilities allowed them to decimate numerous vampires and led to the battle at the Sola Mira Hive where the vampires were seemingly defeated though at the cost of Black Hat. In actuality, this Priest was spared by the hives Queen who turned him into the first human-vampire.

The Vampire Queen.

In response, the vampires were allowed to exist but only under set reservations. These facilities were underground structures in the Wastelands where the vampires were relegated to live and not hunt humans. Amongst the noted reservations was the Nightshade Reservation that seemingly consisted of deviant vampires that desired their isolation. However, these vampires killed their human guards whilst they allowed their Familiars to operate the facility during daytime. Their hives were noted to had been abandoned since the end of the war. However, one of these hives remained active in secret where they bred an army. The Sola Mira Queen was not idle in this time and intended to show no quarter to humanity once she unleashed her armies against them.

The newly created vampire army later overran the settlement of Jericho. Led by Black Hat, the Vampires were hiding their army onboard a train with the intention of being smuggled into Cathedral City where they would have massacred the population as the settlement was covered in darkness. However, a group of renegade Priests managed to destroy the train killing the Vampire army along with Black Hat their leader. Despite this, the Vampire Queen was not amongst them and the renegade Priest decided that a new war had begun.

Overview

Pureborn vampires were much more animalistic in their appearances and they walked on all fours. Their limbs held sharp claw-like digits that allowed them to shred their prey and their mouths held powerfully sharp fangs used for feeding. The claws were sharp enough to slash humans into bloody pieces. These vampires were seemingly evolved to be blind with no apparent eyes on their faces but were easily able to detect prey. This was one of the reasons the Church moved for the eradication of vampires as they believed the eyes were the windows to the soul and as vampires lacked eyes then they were souless creatures. These creatures were amazingly fast to the point that they much quicker when compared to humans. They were noted to not move in the same manner as humans as their body weight pulled them into concentric patterns. Thus, any opponent needed to anticipate their trajectory in order to shoot them. They demonstrated no capacity for speech but feral behavior where they preyed on humans. Newborn vampires were grown in sac-like eggs that were hung from the cieling until the developing offspring broke free. Sunlight, however, was harmful to them and burnt their skin when exposed to it.

A Hive Guardian.

There were various different breeds of vampires with one being known as the Hive Guardian that were much larger subspecies located within their hives. Their great size and strength made them formidable opponents though restricted their movements in tight spaces. These vampires were noted for their berserker style qualities with them charging their prey and enemies. The head of the hives was known as the Queen that ruled the vampires. The species were noted for feeding on the blood of human as part of their deit. Some humans were, however, simply infected and came into their service. Amongst these, a select number became known as Familiars that served their vampiric masters. However, Familiars were never taken on a hunt as they slowed down the much faster vampire packs. Some infected humans claimed that vampires did hold souls that were purer than any member of mankind. These rare human-vampires willingly served their kin in their goals and were immune to the rays of the sun. A vampire can smell the blood from the veins of a human and claimed it smelt like dinner.

Vampires were noted for their seemingly hive based mentality and made their home in large mountain-like mounds that were designated hives that humans claimed felt like a grave. Their bodies seemingly excreted a wet substance that was used to construct their hives. The skulls were of their prey were often placed within the walls of their homes. Their talents also allowed them to dig great chambers and tunnels through the ground to serve as passage ways for their armies. Amongst the Reservations, the vampires lived underground during daytime where they slept in crypts until the sun went down.
