Veronica (The Lost World)

Veronica was a female character that featured in Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World.

Background

Veronica and her parents were part of an earlier expedition which also got trapped on the plateau. As such, she grew up in the Lost World when most of that party died trying to escape the many dangers they faced. He parents remained behind but they too disappeared eleven years ago while out collecting specimens. This left her alone in her home at the treehouse where she survived by skill, luck, friendships with the local tribes and perhaps something protecting her.

She is very physical and quite able to protect herself as well as the others. Furthermore, her time on the plateau allows her to know the hidden dangers of the Lost World. Without her knowledge the expedition would likely not have survived.
