Vines (The Ruins)

The Vines are plants that feature in The Ruins.

History

The origin and the history of the vines were unknown except that their first known appearance was within Central America in the lands that belonged to the ancient Mayan people. It was known that in ancient times, the temple was a place of sacrifice over one thousand years ago. There, the plants infested one of the temples and due to the danger associated with them; a tribe of Mayans took a duty to ensure that the plants never spread to the rest of the world. Through vigilance and constant killing of any who approached the ruined temple and the vines; they managed to maintain their duty till the modern age.

Notes

• The plants were never given a name in either the novel or the movie; instead, they were simply known as the vines.
