Biography

Volstagg

Later on, Volstagg came to travel to Chicago where an incident emerged that erupted into a diplomatic incident. This resulted in Director Norman Osborn declaring war on Asgard in Oklahoma after he claimed to had received intelligence that indicated the nation had fallen under control of Loki and had become a rogue state. With this information, he had the forces of his H.A.M.M.E.R. peacekeeping agency along with his Dark Avengers and assorted supervillains launch an attack on the city. (Siege v1 #1)

Whilst at Old Asgard, he was confronted by the newly re-awakened Mangog with the demon battling the Asgardian. Despite his fury, the War Thor was defeated and his Mjolnir hammer was shattered by the beast who departed to kill everyone in Asgardia. With his body broken and having lost the form of War Thor, he barely clung onto Old Asgard when Maleith the Accursed arrived and used a dagger to loosen Volstagg's grip sending him floating into space. (Mighty Thor v1 #701)
