Biography

1985

Vultureman

Vultureman and Slithe both were on Thundera before it exploded trying to get the copy of the plans for the Plun-Darr War Robot from Claudus. They ended up leaving, not getting the copy but assuming it be destroyed along with the planet.

He was not with Slithe, Monkian and Jackalman when they made their alliance with Mumm Ra. But he managed to escape Mumm Ra's destruction of the Mutants equipment and ship, later rejoining the Mutants before a battle with Snow-Man. By this point, Vultureman had become the resident scientist and inventor among the Mutants on Third Earth.

Vultureman used his technical expertise to come up with various devices to help destroy the Thundercats, usually working from his lab inside Castle Plundarr. His various inventions have included The Wolfrat, a giant robotic rat he presented to Mumm-Ra, which Mumm-Ra planned to use to shrink the Thundercats with a potion he had created.

He was the pilot of his Flying Machine. He performed as Slithe had commanded, the ultimately was no match for Snowmeow's claw. After taking great damage from the ThunderTank, he took evasive action as the Flying Machine was unable to take any further damage.

2011

Vultaire was originally the prefect of the floating Birdmen city of Avista. When the Thundercats arrived to his city, Vultaire welcomed them and invited them to dinner while making a series of snide remarks despite their insistence for him to give them the Tech Stone before Mumm-Ra comes for it. But Vultaire arrogantly refuses before accepting Tygra's challenge for the stone with his brother's Powerstones on the line. Though agreeing to the challenge, Vultaire refuses to honor his end of the bargain, because Tygra dented his ship and has the Thundercats placed under house arrest.

Overview

Personality and attributes

Vultureman's ambitious nature is evident by the number of times he has broken ranks with the Mutants.

Powers and abilities

Vultureman's skill with all things electrical, mechanical, and chemical marks him out as the most intelligent of the group. He is most dangerous behind the cockpit of his Flying Machine or a SkyCutter. Vultureman is a crafty opportunist who serves as chief inventor and his skills with both machines and science make him frequently indispensable, but he is more often than not blamed when his devices or machines fail to live up to Slithe's expectations. As befits a scientist, Vultureman is inquisitive and open-minded, frequently leaving him odd-man-out among his more barbaric peers.

Among his inventions included:

  • Wolfrat : a robotic espionage unit used by the Mutants to infiltrate and destroy Cat's Lair and shrink the ThunderCats with shrinking gas. (Episode: The Wolfrat)
  • Voice Imitator : a megaphone-like device used to perfectly imitate ThunderCats' and Mutants voices. (Episode: Divide and Conquer)
  • Superpower Potion : a chemical potion used by Vultureman to become super powerful and take over Third Earth personally. (Episode: Superpower Potion)
  • Shifter : a gun used to "shift," or switch, the bodies and personalities of two individuals. (Episode: The Shifter).
  • Sonic Gun : a cannon with destructive sonic powers, powered by a legendary Sound Stone. (Episode: The Sound Stones)
  • Thundrainium Projector : a massive ray cannon used to fire pure Thundrainium at the ThunderCats, which weakens them. (Episode: Vultureman's Revenge)
  • Telepathy Beam : a large machine with the ability to send false visions to Cheetara's telepathic Sixth Sense. (Episode: The Telepathy Beam)

At one point, he came into possession of the Rosencrantz Medallion that once belonged to Zaxx, a rival of Mumm-Ra. Upon obtaining it, Vultureman gained all the powers of Zaxx that included mystical abilities where he attempted to defeat Mumm-Ra and take over the universe. (Episode: The Zaxx Factor)

Originally, he came to be among the ranks of the Mutants that were stranded on Third Earth. Despite that, he had no loyalties with him making numerous attempts at striking out on his own.
