War was a female Mutant who was

She joined the rest of her family during a parley with the hordes of Amenth. This saw the daemons enemy Annihilation arrive where the golden helm of the entity possessed a creature that spoke to the defenders of Okkara. It had no intention of ending its invasion and said that the Mutants had to earn strength. Thus, the war continued where Genesis eventually decided that they needed to hold the line and to take the strong with her to Arakko into Amenth to battle the enemy. Thus, War along with her siblings joined her whilst her father Apocalypse remained behind to prepare the world by making it stronger to fight Annihilation in the future. (X-Men v5 #13)

During these years, it was known that Solem made numerous advances on War but she refused him. At some point, she came to be involved with a Mutant named Bracken with the two having a child from their marriage. (Wolverine v7 #6) This was noted to had occurred around 300 hundred years ago on Arakko. (X-Men v5 #12) During this time, there were rumours that he became involved with Solem and after he broke off their relationship that Bracken confronted him. This led to his death with an furious War having Solem imprisoned at the Tower of Broken Will to suffer for eternity. (Wolverine v7 #6)

Returning to Dryador, the cards of Saturnyne had chosen the champions that would make up the Swordbreakers of Arakko. War was amongst their ranks but was surprised to find Solem was among the chosen. She refused to allow his entry as a point of pride but Annihilation commanded that all the swordbearers and their swords enter the coming tournament. (X of Swords: Stasis v1 #1) Thus, War had no choice but to free the prisoner from his cell where she found that his admirers had ensured that Solem had a luxury life in his prison. (Wolverine v7 #6)

At the height of the tournament, Genesis was set to battle Apocalypse with the winner of the Contest of Sword deciding the fate of worlds. Ultimately, Apocalypse won the match but the Helm of Annihilation refused to submit and commanded the demonic hordes of Amenth to invade Otherworld. War and the Horsemen joined their mother in leading their forces against their foes whilst the Swordbreakers of Arakko disbanded. This saw the White Sword leaving with his champions whilst Bei looked to save her new husband Cypher and take him away from the battlefield. Amenth's hordes came to surround the Krakoan sword bearers and were prepared to destroy them. (Excalibur v4 #15) However, Saturnyne had enacted a spell that resurrected the Captain Britain Corps who battled the demons of Amenth along with X-Men reinforcements. Genesis then commanded War to bring forth their own armies with the Summoners of Arakko brought onto the field with them summoning all manner of monsters to use against their foes. To combat this foe, the X-Men opened a gateway to another dimension that led to the Vescora onto the battlefield where they attacked everyone on the battlefield. In the midst of the fighting, Apocalypse battled Genesis where he ripped the Helm of Annihilation from her face and donned it himself. Annihilation attempted to take control of him but Apocalypse did not fight to win but rather to submit where he surrendered Arakko in the Contest of Swords thus thwarting the demonic force. Saturnyne accepted the surrender and used her powers to turn the Helm of Annihilation into a spear thus reducing its corruptive influence. With the battle over, Apocalypse was re-united with his family and decided that part of the terms of the end of the conflict was that he join them to Amenth. Meanwhile, Arakko and its Mutant population was to travel to join to Krakoa. Thus, War joined her family as they departed with the Contest of Swords over. (X of Swords: Destruction v1 #1)
