History

Origin

The Okaarans were native to the thirteenth world located within the Vega System. (Supermen of America v2 #2) Originally, eons ago, the Okaarans were a peaceful species that had not known war or conflict or the nationilistic pride that divided nations. Their civilization lived in such a state that there was no government or representative to serve as leader for their people. In this time, the Psions arrived in the Vegan system in search for scientific experimentation where they arrived on Okaara and were greeted by the beautiful and peaceful X'Hal. The Psions were fascinated by the peaceful civilization and spent some time in X'Hal's company before departing to continue their explorations. They later returned to Okaara after seeing the Branx race and determined to contrast the peaceful Okaaran nature with the violent Branx. To that end, they abducted X'Hal and made her forcibly mate with a Branx warrior in order to witness the children of their union. When X'Hal returned, she became a cosmic god-like being who destroyed her captors and returned with her two children namely Auron with Complex-Complex. However, whilst Auron was kind and loving, Complex-Complex was vile and evil where he compelled the peaceful Okaarans into violent actions. In time, the Okaarans engaged in violence whereupon they developed every concievable weapon of warfare that saw them transformed into the Warlords of Okaara. Their warfare led to holocaust that devastated the surface of Okaara and forced the natives to live underground caverns. They concluded that Complex-Complex was responsible and banished him from Okaara which saw X'Hal enraged at what happened to her son. Her rage saw her destroy three Vegan worlds and two hundred of the greatest Warlords move to subdue her. However, it was ultimately X'Hal's own remorse that saw her end her attacks and Auron becoming her warden did the crisis end. (Omega Men v1 #7)

For millennia, the Warlords of Okaara trained the inhabitants of the Vegan worlds in the art of warfare. This saw a great many pilgrimages taken where children were taken to the mythic world of Okaara where they were to be taught in the Warlord's art of combat. On Tamaran, the young Starfire and Blackfire were sent by their father the King to be trained by the famed Warlords of Okaara. The two daughters were present on a starship consisting of pilgrims that were other chieftains from the worlds of Vega that were sending their children to be trained in the proper arts of war. During the training, Blackfire broke the Okaaran rules regarding combat and prevented her from dishonorably killing Starfire. Seeing her as a disgrace, they banished her from Okaara though she vowed revenge. (Tales of the New Teen Titans v1 #4)

The Dominators invited the Okaarans into the Alien Alliance to serve as weaponsmiths during the invasion of the planet Earth and the Warlords accepted the summons. Afterwards, they adapted weapons and helped in the construction of a warfleet for their Khund allies whereupon the next step involved the Alliance fleet arriving at the Sol system. This saw the Okaarans reserve their most deadliest weapons for themselves as they arrived in Earth orbit onboard their Dreadnoughts. (Invasion v1 #1) Their role as weaponsmiths saw them deliver and maintain the Alliance's war machine. (Invasion v1 #2) As a result, the Warlords of Okaara concluded that Earth was ripe with genetic potential and some of their own students resided on the planet. (Supermen of America v2 #2) Among these students included a female Human by the name of White Lotus who was designed Terran apostle 114. (Supermen of America v2 #4)

Through their tele-holopathic probes, the Warlords detected the emerging threat posed by the Unimaginable Power from Sol Three and saw Commandant Sath'm lead a cleansing battaltion to prevent its release. He concluded that sacrifices needed to be made and the Commandant was prepared to annihilate Earth to accomplish his goal. (Supermen of America v2 #2) White Lotus infiltrated the Okaaran Prime Cruiser and engaged the Warlords who had no desire to hurt her initially as she was one of their students. The fighting stopped when Prime Commandant Sath'm called a halt to the fighting and revealed that he had no desire for further fighting. Instead, he intended to use his containment squad to gather the Unimaginable Power whereupon they would depart the sector. However, failing that, the Commandant revealed that the entire city or planet was deemed expendable to prevent the universal power from escaping. Ultimately, White Lotus agreed to serve as a representative to surrender the containment unit containing the Unimaginable but during the "ceremony of surrender" Lockdown-6 was breached thus unleashing the entity within the device. (Supermen of America v2 #4) The release of the Unimaginable created a void that threatened to erase reality as the entity sought a host which it found in the engineered human known as Maximum. Once taken, the Commandant attempted to repair the situation by offering to train Maximum on Okaara but was removed from the scene by Max's reality alteration powers. (Supermen of America v2 #5)

In Supermen of America v.2 #5, a vision of the perfect Okaaran future was shown to Sath'm where the galaxy was at peace after being taught the Warlords respect towards war and their confiscation of all weapons of destruction.

During the Rann/Thanagar war, the Okaarans sided with the Rannian forces as well as their allies. This saw their weaponers creating a supply of ordnance with their warriors and fleet being dispatched to aid Rann in the Polarus system. (Rann-Thanagar War v1 #2)

Post-Flashpoint

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. The Warlords of Okaara were shown to still be members of the Alliance and were involved in the attempts to capture Telos. These Okaarans and their Alliance allies were killed when Parallax arrived whereupon he massacred them. (Telos v1 #5)

Overview

In appearance, the Okaarans were a race of blue-skinned large humanoids with notable fangs. (Tales of the New Teen Titans v1 #4) Physically, Okaarans were built for war and their sheer brute strength made them formidable foes. (Invasion v1 #2)

They were noted for spending much of their time underground where they trained in the physical and mental arts of war. (Supermen of America v2 #2) Their devotion to the arts of war meant that they were taught from the cradle its tenets. (Invasion v1 #1) These teachings were seen as beliefs by the Okaarans who were concerned about the placement of their "saltha" in the afterlife. Some that believed that they were going to their afterlife offered to say a "hai'kai" to anothers saltha. (Supermen of America v2 #5) Okaaran teachings meant the training of individuals in the art of warfare but also entwining these beliefs with those of humanities. This was because the Warlords did not believe in simply teaching the art of killing as they believed it to be a simple skill to gain a weapon to slay another being. Instead, they believed that the path to peace could only be fought in battle and that the victor needed to win to bring about that conclusion. As such, they believed that there was no compromise between right and wrong on the field of battle. Training involved teaching students to appreciate themselves and to determine what was worth fighting for when they could not escape battle. Afterwards, they were trained in the arts of fighting along with learning multiple emotions for their enemy ranging from love, hate to compassion and ultimately a compromise between these feelings. If there was no compromise, students were taught that the only other recourse was war and in this case the only outcome needed to be victory. This training continued until the Graduation Exercise where students fought one another for victory. (Tales of the New Teen Titans v1 #4)

The Okaarans were noted to had spent thousands of years perfecting the art of martial combat. In their philosophy of battle, once their enemy was engaged, the Okaarans did not end the fight until they were destroyed or their enemies were crushed. Defeated enemies were allowed to appoint a representative to surrender in formal events known as the "ceremony of surrender". The Warlords of Okaara tended to rely on their martial skills that consisted of fighting techniques culled from thousands of myriad races. These techniques included the "llalorian" drop assault, "higalnian" leg sweep, four fingered claws strike from Rodor, and "bismollian" choke hold though this was normally used to dislodge food within stuffed mouths. (Supermen of America v2 #4) After battles, most warriors retired to their homes to celebrate for hours. (Green Lantern Corps v3 #30)

The military forces present within the Okaaran forces included "cleansing battalions". (Supermen of America v2 #2) They also made use of "internal security squads" whose primary weapon complement was classified as grade-2 though this was because they did not use armaments that risked damaging the hull. The internal security squads were not the elite forces of the Okaaran Regalia Glory Boats. This was because the best warriors were disgorged from prime cruisers and the Warlords had never a need to defend the interior of their vessels since none had infiltrated one before. Other forces included "containment units", "introductory platoons" and "priority 2 assault units". (Supermen of America v2 #4) Individual Okaarans were known to prefer to die with their units instead of surviving conflict. (Supermen of America v2 #5)

One unit of Okaaran warriors were the sicarii that were equipped with temporal disruptors and gave their lives to accomplish their objectives. (Telos v1 #5)

Okaaran divided their weaponry from grade 2 that were minor armaments to grade 10 with omega-level dangers being highly dangerous according to the Warlords. (Supermen of America v2 #4)

Their technology included the use of tele-holopathic probes used to detect threats to the Okaarans. (Supermen of America v2 #2) Okaaran armor included scanning equipment designed to determine the effects of their surroundings. (Supermen of America v2 #5) Their vessels included the use of Regalia Prime Cruisers. Amongst the elite vessels of the Warlords included the Glory Boats that were equipped with powerful Armageddon Wells as their armament. (Supermen of America v2 #4) Among their starships included impressive Dreadnoughts that contained their most deadliest weapons. (Invasion v1 #1)
