Biography

Weisz Steiner (Japanese: ワイズ・シュタイナー, Hepburn: Waizu Shutainā?) was a male human who came to live on the world of Norma located in the Sakura Cosmos. He lived on the world with his mother until she fell gravely ill at some point where her sickness could not be explained by the doctors. Despite Weisz's pleas, his mom did end up dying due to the sickness. Sometime after his mother's death, Weisz bought a used robot in order to get a friend. The robot knew lots of stuff and it even taught Weisz how to use the Machina Maker Ether Gear after three years of training. Unfortunately after learning the Ether Gear, he was not very good at using it and ended up breaking his robot teacher by accident. Many years later, Weisz ended up becoming a thief and found himself part of a gang of criminals lead by Sibir. Weisz and Sibir were good friends and Weisz even showed him the pendant his mother gave him. However, the pendant was stolen and Weisz accused Sibir since he was the only one Weisz told about. After Sibir denied stealing it, Weisz claimed that the gang was not his crew, and he was kicked out of the gang. Weisz then promised Sibir that he would steal something he cared about. Shortly after the falling out, Weisz stole a case from Sibir that he believed was full of money.

Weisz first appeared drawing a gun on Shiki, Rebecca, and Happy when they enter his home looking for The Professor. Then announcing that he was Weisz Steiner, confusing the group. As he continues to question Shiki and co. on who they are, the young man accuses them of working for Sibir. Then after Shiki sees someone upstairs, Weisz quickly leaves on his motorbike. Afterwards he is seen clutching a suitcase, stating he will never let Sibir have it. Rebecca and Shiki later find him at his favorite bar and explain that they are friends of his future self. Shiki then proceeds to steal his suitcase after learning Weisz is a thief. Shiki accidentally opens the suitcase revealing it contained an android, not money as Weisz thought. Weisz then deduces that Sibir was planning on using Pino to make money and decides to follow her in order to steal the score. Weisz had continues to follow Pino until he is there to witness her return to Sibir and his new recruits, the Foote Brothers. When Sibir threatens to break Pino's other leg, Weisz intervenes, claiming that since he stole her she belongs to him. Then when Shiki breaks into the hideout, Weisz uses the confusion to steal Rebecca's vehicle, along with Pino and Happy and make his escape. It was later revealed that this Weisz was actually the younger version of Professor Weisz Steiner, the mechanical genius from Rebecca’s timeline. Weisz revealed a surprising aptitude for machinery, improvising technological solutions while evading his pursuers. When pushed into a corner, he displayed both wit and adaptability, willing to cooperate with Shiki and Rebecca temporarily if it meant turning the odds in his favor. Though his methods remained self-serving, his ability to manipulate circumstances to his advantage established him as more than just a common thief, but as someone whose intelligence and resourcefulness would make him an invaluable ally in time.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Weisz Steiner was a male young adult with a slim build, dark eyes and short blond hair. He had a few bangs brushed to his right and a single earring is worn on his left ear. He wore casual but practical clothing that gave him a roguish aesthetic, typically including a jacket over a shirt and trousers, with accessories such as a pendant and gloves completing his look. His initial outfit consisted of a long-sleeved, light-blue coat with an open high collar and dark-colored shoulder pads over a black turtleneck. Underneath was a short-sleeved white shirt with black sleeves, sports a pair of dark trousers, and plain, white boots. After creating the Arsenal Suit, he decided to take part in battles himself and went by the name Arsenal (アーセナル Āsenaru?).

In terms of personality, Weisz presented himself as cocky, arrogant, and opportunistic. His first interaction with Rebecca and Shiki was marked by his attempt to assert dominance through theft and intimidation, yet beneath his bravado lay the calculating mind of a survivor who knew how to take advantage of every situation. Despite his selfish and manipulative tendencies, he was not without courage, as shown when circumstances pushed him into conflict. His layered personality combined recklessness with pragmatism, revealing a man whose flaws masked the intelligence and determination that defined his character.

Unlike his future self, Weisz is a selfish and stubborn person who only cared for himself, acted as if he did not truly care about the others around him. As a thief, he would steal items he deemed worthy of value. However, it is shown that Weisz does care about his friends and he shows concern for others in his own way such as partially fixing Happy after he was damaged, showing concern for Rebecca when she was kidnapped, saving Sister while she was being held captive, and displaying suspicion of Homura when she showed knowledge of the Edens Zero.

Powers and abilities

Weisz Steiner was born a human being with no inherent special powers and abilities. Physiologically, Weisz Steiner was an ordinary human with no superhuman abilities. His natural talents lay in his intellect and mechanical ingenuity, which allowed him to repair, modify, and even create advanced technology under pressure. He possessed sharp reflexes, a quick draw with firearms, and the instincts of a thief who knew how to read situations to his advantage. Unlike combat-oriented figures, his strengths were tied to human cunning, agility, and technical expertise, marking him as someone whose greatest weapon was his mind.

With Hermit's help, Weisz constructed a weapon that he can control through a bracelet. This came to form the basis of a battle armor called the Arsenal Suit (アーセナルスーツ Āsenaru Sūtsu). When activated, his entire body becomes covered in a powered suit of armor that harnesses the power of his Ether Gear. While donning this armor, he takes on a superhero alias called 'Arsenal'.

Among the techniques known to him included:
