Biography
U.S. Animated, Japan
Wheeljack was a male member of the Autobot faction of Transformers from the planet Cybertron.
Marvel U.S.
Wheeljack first appeared as one of the Autobots who crash-landed on Earth after the Ark collided with a volcano during the Autobots’ and Decepticons’ long war. When the Ark was reactivated by the eruption and Teletraan I repaired the Transformers within, Wheeljack was among the first Autobots restored to functionality. He quickly took on a leadership role alongside Optimus Prime, using his technical expertise to help the Autobots adapt to their new environment and continue their struggle against the Decepticons on Earth. His presence was instrumental during early operations, often lending both his strength in battle and his inventive mind in devising solutions to the Decepticons’ attacks. In his subsequent activities, Wheeljack participated directly in the Autobots’ engagements against the Decepticons, often deploying alongside his comrades to protect human life and Earth’s resources from Megatron’s schemes. His technical prowess was not confined to laboratories, as he actively took part in frontline battles, wielding his photon blaster to keep the Decepticons at bay. His ability to balance combat readiness with his role as the Autobots’ chief inventor marked him as one of Optimus Prime’s most versatile and dependable warriors during the early stages of the conflict on Earth. Wheeljack continued to distinguish himself by contributing his mechanical skills to both battlefield repair and innovation, constructing devices that enhanced the Autobots’ effectiveness against their foes. His creative engineering often gave the Autobots a tactical edge, though his inventions occasionally carried risks due to their experimental nature. Despite this, his determination to find new ways to counteract Megatron’s growing aggression made him one of the Autobots’ most valuable assets. His ability to fight alongside his inventions reinforced his dual role as warrior and innovator within the Autobot ranks.
Marvel U.K.
Early in Cybertron's civil war, before Optimus became leader, Wheeljack was a member of the Magnificent Six, a strike team comprising himself, Jazz, Inferno, Sunstreaker, Prowl, and Stampede. Together, they were tasked with infiltrating Decepticon territories to sow chaos from within. During a mission to the neutralist town of Yuss, they defeated a small band of Decepticons and were hailed as heroes by the locals. A retaliatory attack proved harder to repel, as the team found themselves facing off against Megadeath's elite cadre. The Magnificent Six held Yuss's borders for a week, but the once-grateful neutralists grew to resent the Autobots as the violence took its toll on them. The siege ended with the neutralists selling out the Autobots. As Megadeath's captives, the six were subject to tortures and humiliations for seven days. In one of his sadistic games, Megadeath gave five of the six blasters, and offered them a chance to win their freedom; they only needed to stop him from killing Stampede, the only unarmed member. Wheeljack and the others failed to even take up arms, so thoroughly had Megadeath succeeded in breaking them by that point. Megadeath then gave the Autobots two hours to find his neutralist prisoners before he detonated five Neutronic bombs to obliterate the entire region. Finding their mettle, the Autobots forewent any attempt to rescue either themselves or the civilians for the Decepticon's entertainment. They instead hid, and ambushed Megadeath when he came to investigate their lack of action. Though Wheeljack and Prowl nearly died in battle, the remaining three Autobots crippled their torturer. Megadeath refused to divulge where he had stashed the neutralists, so the Autobots left him behind to die to his own device. When later questioned about what had transpired during their mission, the survivors lied and claimed not to remember any of it.
Throughout the war on Cybertron, Wheeljack rescued fellow Autobot Sky Lynx numerous times, earning him the latter's eternal gratitude and friendship. He was present at the battle of Jan-Ja where Optimus Prime rallied the troops in the defence of Iacon.

Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Wheeljack was a mechanical lifeform of Cybertronian origin, with a humanoid robot mode defined by a white chassis with green and red striping reminiscent of a Lancia Stratos Turbo rally car, which formed his alternate mode. His robot form was distinctive, with a broad chestplate marked by his vehicle’s hood, shoulder-mounted fins, and a faceplate-like mouth with flashing “ear” appendages that lit up when he spoke. His alternate form allowed him to transform into the Lancia Stratos Turbo, complete with racing livery, giving him high mobility for reconnaissance and transport.
In personality, Wheeljack was inventive, courageous, and determined, embodying both the ingenuity of a scientist and the bravery of a frontline soldier. He possessed an enthusiasm for experimentation and a tendency to push the boundaries of technology, sometimes producing volatile or unpredictable results. Nevertheless, his loyalty to Optimus Prime and his fellow Autobots drove him to constantly refine his designs to better support the war effort. His personality balanced innovation with action, making him a cornerstone figure among the Autobots.
Powers and abilities
As a Cybertronian, Wheeljack’s physiology granted him the ability to transform between his humanoid robot mode and his alternate vehicle form, a Lancia Stratos Turbo. This transformation granted him versatility in combat and reconnaissance, as well as the durability inherent to Cybertronian metal bodies. His enhanced strength, resilience, and endurance allowed him to operate in Earth’s atmosphere and environment with ease, while his specialized equipment and internal systems supported his role as the Autobots’ chief inventor. His body design integrated his combat function with his technical aptitude, embodying the adaptability of Cybertronian physiology.
