White Council

The White Council was a group formed during the Third Age of Middle-Earth, composed of the wisest among the Istari and elves. Also known as the Council of the Wise, the Council's purpose was to combat the influence of Sauron. Saruman was its leader for many years (until he turned traitor), and its other members included Gandalf.
