Wilhelmina “Billie” Church was a female character that featured in Clive Barker's Jericho.
Background
Wilhelmina "Billie" Church was born into a snake handling Christian sect in the rural region of Tennessee. Her family's congregation believed that she was gifted with divine powers of healing as well as protection which was evidenced by the "miracles" that the child worked on by drawing her own blood which she used to write "angelic script". Once word spread of this child's percieved powers, Billie developed a fervent devotion from her followers until the Tennessee State authorities launched an investigation which resulted in Billie being taken into custody. During her care under the state, she experienced numerous traumatic events which brought about a number of suicide attempts. This unusual past made her paranoid that her cult will be coming for her again which means that her past continues to haunt her. Furthermore, she developed a continuing history of symptoms associated with schizophrenia as well as a disassociated personality disorder.
Her unusual circumstances meant tht she was placed on a low-level surveillance by the Department of Occult Warfare until monitoring was stepped up after an incident during her custody when she carved the words "Luke 10:19" into the middle of her back which resulted in her being placed in a solitary observation room. She was denied the use of any sharp instruments with which she could further harm herself though the doctors were unable to determine how she accomplished the former feat. Billie herself claims that "angels" did the act to her.
Father Paul Rawlings noted her extraordiary circumstances and engineered her release into a DOW assessment facility. There, she was engaged in years of intense deprogramming, therapy and training in various blood based magic systems which made her appointed to the position of Sergeant. Since that time, she has developed into an explosive extrovert when compared to her former withdrawn modest self.
She is capable of casting powerful wards, enchantments and banishments through the use of rituals that are created by her drawing blood from herself which she uses to write potent sigils. There is, however, a price for such an act as it brings about a price both physically as well as spiritually. The use of the ritual focuses and taps into something deep inside of her which the DOW has been unable to determine.
Beyond this, she carries the very minimum that is required by army regulations for protection which includes a submachine pistol that serves as her primary firearm. She prefers, however, to use the nodachi, a large two handed Japanese sword which has been custom crafted and used to deadly effect by its user.
By the time of her deployment in Jericho Squad, she was 22 years of age with brown/green eyes as well as a dark hair. Her blood scribe based roles means that she provides support to her team and serves as the pointman.
