Biography

Fra YVS (Japanese: フラ・ヤービス, Hepburn: Fura Yabisu)

In AD 1500, YVS participated in and ultimately won the Shaman Fight and was crowned the Shaman King. According to Thorim , instead of growing stronger, YVS won by using underhanded methods, such as paying his subordinates and blackmailed his opponents, using their families, status and lands against them, leading many to withdraw from the tournament and making YVS unpopular amongst the Patch Officiants of that generation. It was noted that around this time that he had also encountered Hao Asakura. Sometime after becoming the Shaman King, he was responsible for creating the capitalist society that exists during the present time. At one point, YVS utilized Mr. B's doctrines to control humanity by bending them on purpose and it was said that he also created the Butsu Zones. Joining the Great Spirit, it was shown that the physical skull of YVS still remained in Mu in the centuries that followed.

In this form, he claimed to be a God-Class Robot created by a secret society to control the world; referring to himself as a brand new control system they made, but not wanting to be their pawn he escaped, wishing for freedom. After Kamogawa Yohsuke had considered throwing himself off of the Sky Tower. 'Yahabe' demanded Yohsuke to give him money, stating it is like a food source for him and since he'd be dead soon anyway he wouldn't need it. Being annoyed at Yohsuke's lack of a response, he threatens him, until Yohsuke reveals he only has 500 yen. Yahabe laments that he is poor, but it didn't matter much as he was starving anyway, offering him his Time Warp card. He formally introduces himself and instructs Yohsuke to put the 500 yen coin into a slot in the back of his head. After Yohsuke jumps off of the tower and the card's power takes effect, Yahabe appears in Yohsuke's room earlier that day, startling Yohsuke. Becoming annoyed at having to repeat himself about his origins to Yohsuke, he relaxes as he acknowledges he is grateful to Yohsuke for ending his hunger, even if only for a measly 500 yen. He asks Yohsuke about what he thinks about the power of his cards, before explaining the powers and details around his cards. He tells Yohsuke to check his pockets as he returned his 500 yen, noting it was only fair as he had turned back time. He shows Yohsuke his X-Ray 125 card and Yohsuke decides to use it to help him win the tournament. Later, as Yohsuke had arrived to participate in the God-Hand Q Tournament, Yahabe laughs at how humans are so easily controlled by money, revealing it was a plot of the secret society to control everything, and noting that he did not want to be their tool so he fled for his on freedom. As Yohsuke was battling his second opponent, Yahabe borrows back his card and panics as he notices that "they" had found him, before taking off with Yohsuke in a hurry. As Yohsuke stopped to confront them, Yahabe gives him his strongest card, Obelisk to push back and defeat the large force made up of tanks, helicopters, and armed soldiers. later back in Yohsuke's room, Yahabe mentions that that particular card was worth 100,000,000 dollars, noting that it would be okay if he took his time to pay it back, proclaiming they would be great partners.

Overview

Personality and attributes

As such, YVS was an avaricious individual with an unquenchable love for money, and an unabashed elitist, who vehemently despises those he views as middle or low class, claiming to Yohsuke he despises "mixing up with the plebs". YVS has questionable if not downright, non-existent morals. He approached a younger Yohsuke and took advantage of the boy's desperation, lack of self-esteem, suicidal thoughts and utilized his vulnerabilities to manipulate him and trick him into debt, all the while helping to feed and nurture his hatred for the world, and turning him essentially into his main enforcer.

Even during his time YVS was a notoriously underhanded combatant, who rather than improve his spirit and techniques, engaged in bribery, blackmailing and manipulation in order to rid himself of his competition and crown himself Shaman King, much to the disgust of the Patch Officiants of that generation.

Despite innumerable character flaws, YVS has a surprising amount of forethought, immediately recognizing Hao as the most dangerous threat to his regime and seeking to eliminate him when he was just a reincarnated infant. When this failed, he began preparations for an eventual Flower of Maize, knowing full well that Hao would win the next tournament, and thus improve his chances of victory by usurping him later.

Powers and abilities

Originally, Fra YVS had been a human being born as a shaman (シャーマン shāman) who were people that could connect with the world of spirits and gods. This gave him a sixth sense and the ability to detect as well as utilise Furyoku (巫力 , lit. "shamanic power"; English: Mana).

During the Shaman Fight, YVS came to win the tournament and ascended to the title of Shaman King (シャーマンキング Shāman Kingu). This allowed him to merge with the Great Spirit (G · Sグレートスピリッツ Gurēto Supirittsu) and take it as his guardian ghost. His position led to him standing amongst the ranks of the other holders of the mantle where they stood as among the God 8 (GODゴッド8, Goddo 8).
