Biography
Origin
Yera was a female Durlan who was an inhabitant of the 30th century. (Legion of Super-Heroes v2 #305)
She became an actress where the Durlan was quite a star in holofilms. Yalo Muldron then approached her where he asked her to impersonate the Legionnaire Shrinking Violet. Yera agreed to do so but refused to spy on the Legion of Super-Heroes for him with Muldron simply wanting her to make sure that the Legionnaires never learnt that the real Shrinking Violet was missing. It was said that Yera was enticed to do so as it was said to had been a challenging acting role for her. When the Legion went on a mission to Khundia, Yera was put into position to replace Salu Digby. (Legion of Super-Heroes v2 #305)
In 3008, the people of Earth fell under a xenophobic government that opposed all alien life and formed their own superhero team called the Justice League of Earth consisting of human rejected legionnaires. With their support, they began to arrest all aliens on the planet and formed propaganda to state that Superman was not an alien but a human who fought against extraterrestrials. With the Legion being outlaws, Yera volunteered to be sent on a spy mission with Brainiac 5 sending her to infiltrate the Justice League of Earth's satellite. Whilst there, she discovered that Sun Boy was being used to alter the sun's to turn red but before she could free him she was captured by Earth-Man. (Action Comics v1 #861)
The switch was made while the real Shrinking Violet was vacationing on the asteroid home of Legion financier R. J. Brande. Yera entered Legion headquarters and stayed hidden until Micro Lad could safely spirit Violet away. Yera's first Legion mission was nearly her last—an ill-advised invasion of Khundia ordered by Espionage Squad leader Chameleon Boy. (Legion of Super-Heroes v2 #287) One of her rescuers was Colossal Boy, who had for a long time harbored a crush on the real Violet. While they were stranded on a cold asteroid, Yera responded to Colossal Boy's advances. Naturally, he thought his prayers had been answered at last, and accepted her affection at face value. (Legion of Super-Heroes v2 #289) But when Violet's long-time boyfriend, Duplicate Boy, got wind that Colossal Boy and "Violet" had married, he was furious. During a fight with Gim, Duplicate Boy recognized Yera's deception but chose to say nothing. He too believed that Violet's participation in the scheme was voluntary. (Legion of Super-Heroes v2 #288)
Colossal Boy, who’d only ever lived at home, and then at Legion headquarters, got an apartment with Yera. Yera was worried they’d face discrimination, since some landlords expressly forbid Durlans, but they managed to find a nice place. They settled into their new place, and Colossal Boy learned from the news that his mother Marte Allon had resigned as Earth President. (Legion of Super-Heroes v3 #1)
The Legion of Super-Heroes were reunited with their members lost in Limbo, and threw a huge party. Shrinking Violet wanted a word with Yera, and when Colossal Boy said anything she had to say to his wife she could say in front of him, but Yera said she could take care of her own affairs. Shrinking Violet begrudgingly accepted that Yera was an innocent dupe when she impersonated her, but if Yera ever took her form in public or private there would be trouble between them. (Legion of Super-Heroes v3 #9) The Worldcomp computer chose the candidates for the next President of the Earth, and Colossal Boy, Yera and his parents celebrated Marte’s last day as President. She said she looked forward to going back to teaching at university. The Khunds wanted to spark a war with Earth, and sent an assassin to kill Marte. Colossal Kid fought him off, saving his mother’s life, but was wounded by a laserblast to his arm. (Legion of Super-Heroes v3 #10)
