Biography

Zarko the Tomorrow Man in Journey into Mystery v1 #101.

Artur Zarrko was a male human scientist native to Earth in the 23rd century whereby 2262 he was a noted scientist specialised in time travel. By this point, three centuries in the future, mankind had abolished war and destroyed all weapons. Thus, peace and contentment came upon the world with this state of affairs not being something desired by Zarrko. People in this timeline had used their knowledge to help other civilizations whilst Zarrko instead looked for a way of leaving his own. With his knowledge, he came to construct the world's first time machine where he intended to go back in time and find mighty weapons which he would gather to conquer the world. Using a time scope, he found the period in history when nuclear weapons were in active use with Zarrko intending to steal them for his arsenal. As such, he used his time machine to go back to the 20th century in order to acquire them. (Journey into Mystery v1 #86)

In the present day, the Asgardian Thor Odinson was helping the U.S. Military test their new missiles technology in the form of the cobalt bomb. At that moment, Zarrko appeared in his time machine and stole the C-Bomb and escaped into the future before Thor could stop him. Promising to recover the bomb, Thor summoned his father Odin and asks how he might travel into the future. Odin guided him in using his hammer Mjolnir to time travel by tying a fragment of Zarrko's craft that had broken off in the brief battle between Thor and Zarrko whereupon he spun his hammer faster than the speed of light so that its magic will transport him to the future. The spell worked and Thor is sent into the future year of 2262, where he found that Zarrko has used the C-Bomb to take over the future Earth. When Zarrko learnt of Thor's arrival in his time, he sent his newly established guards after Thor. Thor quickly found someone from the future to act as a decoy, putting on a costume like Thor, whilst Odinson dawned a black robe and the two storm Zarrko's citadel. Inside, the fake Thor was captured lulling Zarrko into a false sense of security when he was suddenly ambushed by the real Thor. When Zarrko's weapons fail he fled and sent an army of his robot labourers against Thor where one managed to grab his hammer. Using a water pipe to short circuit the robots, Thor manages to make them drop his hammer before the sixty second time limit would have him change back into Donald Blake. Zarrko meanwhile had escaped in a ship and was planning to drop the C-Bomb on the city, however Thor summons up a storm which causes Zarrko's ship to fly erratically enough for Thor to recover the dropped bomb. When Zarrko's ship crashes, the villain survives but has suffered amnesia and is taken into custody. Praised as a hero, Thor then returns to the present where he returns the C-Bomb back to the military. (Journey into Mystery v1 #86)

With space-time unstable, a group of beings emerged known as the Chronarchists that were time-travellers who used the disruption to make changes in the timeline that were permanent. This saw an early incarnation of Zarrko being trapped by S.H.I.E.L.D. T.I.M.E. division where he warned them of dangers ahead though after these failed to seemingly manifest they began to ignore him. Eventually, it came to pass and he was being consulted on how to resolve this crisis as the Hulk was sent to stop the Chronarchists. (Indestructible Hulk v1 #11) In reality, he was working with one of the Chronarchists named Khotto who was looking to free his partner and also alter the origin of the Hulk to turn him into a weapon that they could use on the timestream. The Hulk eventually came to learn of this where he managed to pull both Khotto and Zarrko into the timestream. In desperation, Zarrko attempted to betray Khotto in order to secure his release but the two time travellers were then taken by a mysterious being that the Tomorrow Man had called master thus ending the crisis created by the Chronoarchists. (Indestructible Hulk v1 #15)
