The '''U.S.S. Fleming''' was a [[United Federation of Planets]] starship, ''[[Wambundu Class|Wambundu]]''-class, NCC-20316. A medical transport, the ''Fleming'' was transporting a rare and valuable [[Biomimetic Gel|biomimetic gel]], before it disappeared in the [[Hekaras Corridor]] in [[2370]]. The ship was feared to have fallen prey to hijackers, but it had actually been disabled by a Hekaran [[Verteron Mine|verteron mine]]. The U.S.S. ''[[Enterprise, USS|Enterprise-D]]'' discovered it, but a [[Subspace Rift|subspace rift]] opened soon after the ''Fleming'' was found and entrapped the ship. The Enterprise was able to rescue the crew, but not the ship, which was destroyed.
