'''Carl Grissom''' was once the most powerful crime lord in [[Gotham City]]. His downfall began when he became jealous that his right-hand man, [[Joker (Batman Films)|Jack Napier]], was wooing his mistress [[Alicia Hunt]] behind his back. In revenge, Grissom set Napier up to be killed by crooked police detective [[Max Eckhardt|Lt. Eckhardt]] while casing [[Axis Chemicals]]. The plan went awry thanks to the intervention of [[Batman (Films)|Batman]], and Napier was instead transformed into the [[Joker (Batman Films)|Joker]]. One of the first things the Joker did was surprise Grissom in his office and take his revenge by blowing his former boss away.
