Professor Lawrence Middlemass was a scientist hired by cereal mogul Colonel Cobb to design a machine capable of altering the world's weather, as part of Project Monsoon. He was assisted by Wilkie. Although Cobb planned to have Middlemass killed after the Professor outlived his usefulness, he never got around to it and Middlemess' life was inadvertently saved by the Tomorrow People. He was arrested by the police following the destruction of the weather machine.
