Koehler was a member of Captain Barbossa's cursed, undead crew aboard the Black Pearl. He was usually seen with Twigg. During the siege of Port Royal, he and Twigg found Jack Sparrow in the dungeon after mistaking it for the armory, and left him there after telling him of the curse placed upon the Aztec gold. Later, Koehler was one of the first to suggest turning against Barbossa, citing openly that all of his decisions had led them from bad to worse. He participated in the battle against the Royal Navy aboard the Dauntless, and was stabbed and killed by Commodore Norrington after the curse was lifted.
