Thanatos-R was an advanced Tyrant-class prototype. Unlike previous versions of the Tyrant, Thanatos-R was extremely fast-moving and intelligent, and his most devestating attack was to use his powerful leg muscles to leap into the air and bodyslam a victim. Thanatos was created at the Raccoon University by Greg Muller, who considered him his ultimate masterpiece. When Greg sensed that members of the U.B.C.S. were nearby, he released Thanatos from his stasis tank. Thanatos ran amok throughout the university, killing four of the U.B.C.S. and endangering the lives of several civilian survivors. He was eventually done in with a dose of the Daylight anti-virus, which killed the T-Virus in his body. As the T-Virus was the very base of Thanatos' genetic makeup, the hulking brute quickly died.
