Ascension was an elaborate process by which a human could transform themselves into a pure demon, a titanic being of immense evil and power. At least two known successful Ascensions have occurred; one in the Ural Mountains with a sorcerer who became the embodiment of the demon Lohesh, and Mayor Richard Wilkins's transformation into a snake-like demon at Sunnydale High School's 1999 graduation ceremony.
