The Frankenstein family were wealthy Middle-European landowners, long regarded with reverence by those living in and around the town of Goldstadt. Following the creation of the Monster, however, the region's inhabitants began to regard the family with fear and suspicion, certain that there was some kind of madness gene in the bloodline begun by Henry Frankenstein.
