Vance was a hunter who took it upon himself to attempt to kill Kong, following the revelation that Kong had survived his encounter with Lt. Colonel Nevitt's forces. Along with a few of his friends, he trapped Kong with a dynamite-induced avalanche, but Kong eventually escaped and killed Vance by eating him.
