Jones was a Welsh milkman who served the area in and around Llanfairfach. It is unknown if he was related to Professor Clifford Jones, who also lived in Llanfairfach. Whilst driving to the Nut Hatch, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Jo Grant stopped to ask directions from him. He insolently kept referring to the Brigadier as "captain." During his second attempt to infiltrate Global Chemicals, the Doctor commandeered Jones' truck and disguised himself as an elderly milkman, claiming to be Jones' father, so he could get past the guards under the pretense of making a delivery.
