General Carlist Rieekan, a weary but capable Rebel general, was in command of Echo Base on Hoth. Rieekan had to make the difficult decision of evacuating the base that the men under his command had worked so hard to build when Blizzard Force led by General Maximillian Veers invaded. Most of the evacuation transports were able to escape Imperial pursuit and regroup, ensuring the Rebellion's survival.
