Biography
"Spinner" was once a Toa of Air whose team fought against a group of mutated Rahkshi on an unidentified island. During the battle, one or more of Spinner's teammates made a decision that resulted in Spinner being thrown into a deep pit and badly injured. His teammates then abandoned him and left, leading Spinner to blame them for the accident and harbor a hatred of Toa.
Spinner was eventually found by the Dark Hunters, who made extensive modifications to his damaged body, imbuing him with new powers and abilities. The rebuilt Spinner agreed to join them on the condition that he would hunt Toa and only Toa.
When the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, Spinner and the other surviving Dark Hunters emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna.
Overview
Personality and attributes
Like most living beings native to the Matoran Universe, Spinner is a biomechanical lifeform whose body consists of both organic and metallic protodermis. The circumstances that led to his induction into the Dark Hunters instilled in him a strong hatred of Toa.
Powers and abilities
As a Toa of Air, Spinner could create, control, and absorb the element, but his injuries and extensive modifications have removed access to his natural elemental powers. Instead, Spinner now emits an effect that causes the air around him to become heavy and toxic. Likewise, Spinner can no longer access the powers of Kanohi masks, but he has instead gained the ability to instil feelings of vertigo in opponents through eye contact. Spinner's primary weapons are twin slicers equipped with Rhotuka launchers whose Rhotuka cause victims to temporarily lose their sense of balance. These twin slicers can be combined to launch Rhotuka capable of putting a victim into a coma, but the sheer amount of energy required to generate such an attack could drain Spinner enough for him to fall into a coma himself.
Notes
- The Spinner model was created by Joshua Guthrie, known on BIONICLE fansite BZPower as "Greenbioguy", and entered into the LEGO Magazine Dark Hunter Building Contest in 2005. Spinner was chosen as one of the winning entries, canonized by BIONICLE lead writer Greg Farshtey, and featured in the BIONICLE: Dark Hunters guidebook.
