- The Time Machine: 802,701. By this time, human evolution has diverged the species into two - the surface-dwelling, childlike Eloi (presumably descendants of a pampered elite), and the subterranean, cannibalistic Morlocks (presumably descendants of the working class that supported the elites). The Time Traveller arrives in this period and encounters both species; the Morlocks steal his Time Machine, but he retrieves it and escapes even further into the future. (The Time Machine by H.G. - DC (Pre-Crisis Earth-1): c. 852,057. By this time, the Earth's sun has turned red, and the oceans of Earth have dried up. The descendants of humanity turn to an artificial water substitute before they are forced to abandon Earth entirely. (Action Comics #300)
