John Lowson

Professor John Lowson was a cantankerous archaeologist searching for King John's treasure in the Wash near Sutton. What he and his team - his niece Liz Beck and assistant curator Gavin Royle - found instead was a monster called the "Slime Beast," which Lowson theorized was an alien and sought to capture in order to become famous. However, he failed in his attempt and was slain by the monster. Upon returning to Sutton many years later and encountering a second Slime Beast, Gavin and Liz remembered Lowson as one of the original monster's many victims.
