Note

  • The Ten Rings were an original creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where they made their first appearance in Iron Man (Marvel Studios, 2008).
  • The name of the Ten Rings seems to be a reference to the ten rings of the Iron Man villain Mandarin.
  • The organization was later introduced into the comics in Ironheart v1 #1 (2018).

In other media

Television

  • In Avengers Assemble, the Ten Rings Corporation was mentioned in the animated television series in the episode "The Conqueror". It was mentioned as being one of Tony Starks competitors that were outpacing him in new technological developments.

Films

  • In Iron Man, the Ten Rings made their first appearance in the live-action film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Ten Rings were a terrorist group that operated in Afghanistan with one of its leaders being a man known as Raza who had plans on the conquest of Asia through the acquisition of advanced weaponry from Stark Industries. This body was responsible for a surprise strike against Tony Stark when he was demonstrating his new Jericho missiles to the U.S. military in the region. He was captured and forced to work for the Ten Rings until he escaped in a prototype armor system. It was later revealed that the Ten Rings were hired by Stark Industries Obadiah Stane who had planned on taking over Stark's corporation. The organization seemingly was killed when Stane met its leader in order to procure the armor system that Tony Stark had created in order to build his own version.
  • In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, it is revealed that the true leader of the Ten Rings is Xu Wenwu, a warrior who discovered ten iron rings that granted him powers and immortality, after finding the mystic village of Ta Lo, Wenwu meets Ying Li, whom he marries and has two children: Shang-Chi and Xialing, Wenwu is a character composed of Zheng Zu (father of Shang-Chi) and the Mandarin.
  • In the Iron Man films, the organization resembled terrorist groups from the Middle East, after the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, it began to resemble Zheng Zu's organization, the Five Weapons Society (formerly known as Si-Fan, Hai-Dai, among other names).
  • Just like the Five Weapons Society, the Ten Rings also resembles a ninja clan.
