P.C. Blake was the local police constable in the town of Engerfield. Following the deaths of Stephen Banning and Joseph Whemple and the arrival of Inspector Mulrooney from London, Blake became subordinate to Mulrooney during the Inspector's investigations and subsequent protection of Stephen Banning's son, John Banning. Blake was ultimately killed when Mehemet Bey stabbed him in the back while he was guarding the Banning residence.
