Ceremony of the Sun

The Ceremony of the Sun was a daily ritual the Skeksis underwent, conducted by the High Priest. Each day, as one of Thra's three suns passed over the castle, the Skeksis would gather around the Dark Crystal in the Crystal Chamber, holding ceremonial staffs. Sunlight would enter the chamber via a triangular skylight, and penetrate the Crystal. From it, beams of purple energy would shine into the eyes of the assembled Skeksis, rejuvenating them for another day.
