Biography
Origin
Mikhail Rasputin (Russian: Михаил Николаевич Распутин)
The state then discovered that their premiere cosmonaut was a Mutant where they kept his existence a secret from the United States. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #286)
His first assignment was the exploration of the void on Sakhalin Island where it was believed his powers would allow a safe egress into it. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #286)
The breach through the interdimensional barrier was traumatic with him managing to survive landing on another world. His arrival did not go unnoticed where he was pulled from the wreckage by the avatar of the Triumvirate. It was weeks later when he would regain consciousness and saw the avatar's eldest daughter Tra-Mai-A-Zath who was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She tended to his wounds which helped heal both his injuries and his heart as he fell in love with her. The two eventually decided to marry and after his wedding he became a member of the royal family of the planet. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #286)

When Krakoa was established as a Mutant nation, Homo Superior from around the world to gather in this new homeland. However, Mikhail was among the few that refused this call and instead remained in Russia where he considered Krakoa to be a threat to the world. As a result, he formed an alliance with the anti-Mutant organization called XENO where he provided them support but only against Krakoa. (X-Force v6 #12)
After claiming the Cerebro Sword, he stabbed Quentin Quire and took the young Mutant to XENO's secret headquarters. He was aware that Quire would not die as his consciousness would be uploaded into a new body via the Resurrection Protocols. However, Mikhail decided to use his corpse as a source of genetic material that XENO could use in its arsenal of genetically engineered soldiers. (X-Force v6 #12)

- Mikhail Rasputin was created by John Byrne, Jim Lee and Whilce Portacio where he made his first appearance in Uncanny X-Men v1 #285 (February, 1992).

- In X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Mikhail Rasputin appeared as an antagonist with him being voiced by actor Scott MacDonald. His appearance was based on the character in the Age of Apocalypse. Rasputin was one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse and the second of such foes the X-Men fought in the Savage Land.
