The two eventually decided to marry and after his wedding he became a member of the royal family of the planet. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #286)

X-Men

Mikhail Rasputin endured a torturous existence within the Void, a desolate pocket dimension where he had been marooned for years following a failed cosmonaut mission. He lived as a haunted hermit amidst the wreckage of his past, burdened by the crushing weight of survivor's guilt after the rest of his crew perished during their transit through the spatial rift. When the X-Men breached his isolation, Mikhail did not initially recognize them as flesh-and-blood rescuers; instead, he perceived them as agonizing hallucinations sent to torment his fractured psyche. He lashed out with his matter-manipulation powers, warping the very fabric of the dimension to keep the 'phantoms' at bay, convinced that his madness had finally manifested physical forms. Even when he recognized his younger brother, Piotr, among the intruders, Mikhail remained submerged in his trauma, believing himself a murderer who deserved his exile. Ultimately, he exerted his immense energy to bridge the gap between the Void and Earth, guiding the group back to the Russian research facility. Upon his return to the physical world, he remained a broken man, physically present but emotionally detached, consumed by the memory of the comrades he could not save and the terrifying scale of the powers he had developed in the dark. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #285) Mikhail though found himself back on Earth but remained trapped within the suffocating confines of his own mind and the grim reality of the Nezhdanov Research Facility. He occupied his time attempting to reconcile his return with the loss of his crew, specifically confronting the spectral memories of his fallen comrades that continued to haunt his vision. When the X-Men and the Russian authorities attempted to integrate him back into society, he reacted with volatile instability, his powers over matter and energy fluctuating wildly in response to his emotional distress. He eventually retreated to the tunnels beneath the facility, where he encountered the Morlocks—a community of outcasts living in the sewers—and saw in them a reflection of his own perceived monstrous nature and isolation. Mikhail asserted his dominance over this group through a display of raw power, viewing himself not as a hero but as a shepherd for those discarded by the world. By the conclusion of the events, he came to the radical conclusion that the only way to 'save' his new subjects was to transport them to another realm entirely. He used his reality-altering abilities to apparently flood the tunnels and whisk the Morlocks away to a different dimension, a desperate act of perceived salvation that left his brother Colossus and the X-Men believing he had perished along with the entire community. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #286)

Dawn of X

When Krakoa was established as a Mutant nation, Homo Superior from around the world to gather in this new homeland. However, Mikhail was among the few that refused this call and instead remained in Russia where he considered Krakoa to be a threat to the world. As a result, he formed an alliance with the anti-Mutant organization called XENO where he provided them support but only against Krakoa. (X-Force v6 #12)

After claiming the Cerebro Sword, he stabbed Quentin Quire and took the young Mutant to XENO's secret headquarters. He was aware that Quire would not die as his consciousness would be uploaded into a new body via the Resurrection Protocols. However, Mikhail decided to use his corpse as a source of genetic material that XENO could use in its arsenal of genetically engineered soldiers. (X-Force v6 #12)

Personality and attributes

Powers and abilities

In terms of power, he was designated as a Alpha-mutant. (X-Men v2 #97)

Having survived for years in a hostile pocket dimension, he demonstrated a profound capacity to manipulate matter and energy on a scale that blurred the lines between physical science and reality-warping. His presence within the Void allowed him to reshape the landscape and interact with the surrounding elements in ways that defied natural laws, often triggered by his unstable emotional state. This mastery extended to the manipulation of dimensional barriers, as he possessed the unique capability to bridge the gap between disparate planes of existence. Rather than being limited to a single elemental force, his power manifested as a total authority over the molecular structure of his surroundings, allowing him to perceive and alter the world around him with a mere thought. Even while in a state of deep psychological distress, his innate power remained so potent that it acted as both a shield against the vacuum of the rift and a weapon against those he perceived as threats. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #285)

This was merely a plot to create pliant slaves to help Mikhail crush the Human High Council and overthrow Apocalypse. To stir up the humans, Mikhail had Empath manipulate their emotions. When the Council sent Donald Blake, Gwen Stacy, Victor von Doom, Tony Stark, Sue Storm, Bruce Banner, and Ben Grimm to investigate Mikhail's claims, he captured them with the intent of making them his test subjects. Blake and the others broke free, and Blake confronted Mikhail just as he sent his Stryfe Force to attack the Council. While the cyborgs were eliminated by von Doom, Blake confronted Mikhail alone. Although just a mere man, Blake sacrificed his life to kill Mikhail. Impaled by Blake's walking stick, both men were thrown out a window and plummeted from Big Ben to their deaths.
